Best Song of all Time
First topic message reminder :
After todays thread on Steffan's Shed 7 tickets, I'm running a 606v2 Boxing 'Best Song of All Time Thread'.
Much like Union (without the cheating and favouritism), you all get your picks. It ends on Sunday midnight. I'll then do a top 10 poll.
Fire away.........
PS list your top 3

Re: Best Song of all Time
Apologies, but this has to be shared with the world. Or at least 606v2. It's beautiful and you can thank me later.
A Rainy Night in Soho
I've been loving you a long time
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways
We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell
I took shelter from a shower
And I stepped into your arms
On a rainy night in Soho
The wind was whistling all its charms
I sang you all my sorrows
You told me all your joys
Whatever happened to that old song
To all those little girls and boys
Now the song is nearly over
We may never find out what it means
But there's a light I hold before me
And you're the measure of my dreams
The measure of my dreams
Sometimes I wake up in the morning
The gingerlady by my bed
Covered in a cloak of silence
I hear you in my head
I'm not singing for the future
I'm not dreaming of the past
I'm not talking of the fist time
I never think about the last
Now the song is nearly over
We may never find out what it means
Still there's a light I hold before me
You're the measure of my dreams
The measure of my dreams

Absolutely, it's long been one of my favourite songs, before the inevitable defection to coxy, which I'm sure will touch you all one day. It can't be fought.
Why do you think it's garbage, out of interest?

Re: Best Song of all Time
Understandable. But there does seem to be a lot of hatred towards Oasis out there... Never understood it personally, always been one of my favourites.
Might give a listen to that Pogues song you posted a bit later. Seems nice and poignant, lyrically at least.

Addendum: I just realised you're not talking rubbish as you're just asserting your own dislike of them. Still think you're crazy to not like them though. Imagine Flash Gordon and Highlander without the soundtracks they had!!!

She is older than me and also suffers from mood swings. The evidence is overwhelming.

Re: Best Song of all Time
A really tough one as my musical taste tends to be very broad and my top three is probably different every day, for today I'll go for:
Hold Yuh - Gyptian (can't hear this song without smiling)
Lucky Man - The Verve (great to sing along to in the car)
Fast Car - Tracy Chapman
Tomorrow it could be all hip hop, next day drum and bass and the next jazz. I love music and choice would always be down to the mood of the day.

Always thought Tracy Chapman was a geezer.
I went to a wedding where they played REM's Imitation of Life as the first dance. Strangely moving.
Anyone like The Delays?

Do quite like Nicki Minaj though, her songs are crap but she is hot. No such thing as a good female rapper (maybe with the exception of Rage, who I was convinced was a dude anyway).
