What are you listening to?
I don't think this has been done before so here goes.
Basically all you have to do is post what song/piece of music you are listening to if you are listening to one.
Ill start it off.
I'm currently listening to Eminem Ft. Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie.

Re: What are you listening to?
I'm listening to whatever dirge comes on the radio and my colleagues out of tune attempt at whistling along. I keep asking to listen to Planet Rock, but they insist on the local station.
I believe it is currently Cindi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Please someone shoot me.

Planet Rock isn't the station it once was. Gone far too commercial these days
At this moment I'm listening to Blue Oyster Cult and a live cover version of the MC5's Kick Out The Jams
Stirring stuff!

Planet Rock is still much better than any other tripe available in this area.
Now we've got Mr Brightside just finishing to be replaced with that stupid grenade song.

Yes I guess so - it's just a shame to see a once great station now playing a lot of tripe.
Only shows really worth listening to now are Rob Birnie in the morning (I've met him - thoroughly top bloke) and Darren Redick in the afternoon.
I used to post on the Planet Rock forum until they decided they didn't like my brand of honesty

I really like that song - only heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago on American Idol auditions.
And as for Blue Oyster Cult - thats what I would have as my entrance music if I was a wrestler/ boxer.
The opening chords of "dont fear the reaper" are awesome.

Blue Oyster Cult are MUCH more than just that song - one of my all time favourite bands and the first big act I ever saw live - back in the days when they had a laser show to rival Pink Floyd
My MP3 player is also on random as it usually is - Extreme and "When I'm President" now!

Re: What are you listening to?
Annoying though. The individual that thought of it...and the one that okayed it deserve a kicking
This is more like it though.
Ocean Colour Scene - The Riverboat Song.
Watch them foul it up by playing something terrible afterwards.

And a very fine "pop" at them it is too!
From an album where DP were in almost meltdown and the band couldn't get along with each other - but produced some excellent tracks

Re: What are you listening to?
DT, were you by any chance listening to Northsound One? The guys at my work insist on listening to it too even though it is probably the worst radio station in the world.
However, currently listening to Emmure - Solar Flare Homicide.
Would recommen to fans of deathcore! Haha!
Brilliant tune btw Holy!

Oh yes - Spock's Beard (and particularly the album that song is taken from) is excellent! I'm still getting into Spock's Beard having discovered them via being a fan of Transatlantic
On other long songs, Transatlantic themselves have plenty (one album is meant to be listened to as a complet 78 minute epic though for convenience on the CD it is still split into more manageable chunks.
My all time favourite epic song though is either Rush's Xanadu or Dream Theater's Octavarium
Octavarium clocks in at about 24 minutes I think and is a complete masterpiece of progressive rock

I have just put in Octavarium into Spotify - will get back to you in 24 minutes!
By the way - have you listened to Brave by Marillion? It was the last prog rock album they did, and by far the only great thing they did after Fish's departure.

I've never really listened to much Marillion apart from the obvious songs that stations like Planet Rock play. They reminded me too much of Genesis who I was never particularly fond of.
Marillion bass player (Pete Trewavas) is also a member of part time band Transatlantic though and I rate him highly

Re: What are you listening to?
just finished listening to Octavarium - really cool. I will check out the rest of the album later.
I love prog rock - just something nice about having songs all blend into one theme and take you on a story.
About to spotify Grendel now!
