Arsenal - Transfer Discussion Empty Arsenal - Transfer Discussion

You could argue that arsenal have one of the best attaking and midfield line ups in the world. However, its no secret that the defence is far below par for a team of this calibre. Wenger has been slated over the years for not focussing on buying in the defenders that could help him create the perfect squad. And, with the transfer window looming - just a few months away - who do you think Arsene will try to clinch for next season? Or rather who do you think would be a useful signing for the club over the summer?

One new central defender along with Djourou and co would be ok. I'd also call for a defensive midfielder and a goalie. Heitinga or Lescott (may cost a bit) at the back? Another one would be Heintze. Serbia usually produce decent defenders.

In terms of midfield, Man City have an abundance - De Jong? Other options, Melo, Palacios, Maniche, Asamoah, Zakora. At least two of those choices may not be popular.

It's no secret that Arsenal are in desperate need of a new keeper. Obviously Manuel Neuer would be the popular choice, but there are many other teams with much more money also waiting in line. The question is whether Neuer will even want to leave Germany.

Lloris from Lyon doesn't seem to be on the radar of any big clubs at the moment as most don't need a new keeper. He would be a good signing. He's young and the French contingent at Arsenal could sway him o make the move and help him settle in.

Gary Cahill would be a good signing remember Arsenal still have Vermaelen who is a good defender. Keep Djourou and Koscielny and bring in a back up right back and that's a decent looking back line with some depth to it.

Midfield isn't a big problem Wilshere, Song, Fabregas and Ramsey are very good players just a couple of guys to gie them numbers who are capable of coming in and doing a job. Muntari and Gago would be good signings.

The wide areas are fine with Nasri and Wallcott but they need a goal scorer capable of 20+ a season Van Persie is to injury prone to rely on. Falcao of Porto looks a good striker they need to bring back up players in for Wallcott and Nasri because you can't play the same team every week. Chamberlaine of Southampton looks to be one Wenger is interested in. Another wide man who would be great for Arsenal would be Juan Mata of Valencia and he is a real goal threat.

Giorgio Chiellini from Juventus for central defence and can cover at left back, as that's where he started, if Gibbs and Clichy both got injured, or if one's injured and the other needs a rest.

Chiellini would be an excellent signing but he won't leave Juventus. He has knocked back Real Madrid the last to summers because he wants to have his full career at Juventus.
