WWE taking MITB back to Mania
Surely good news by adding an awesome match back to the grandest stage of them all.
" It seems that the word from WWE officials is that Money in the Bank is being dropped as a pay-per-view and merging back with WrestleMania.
It is something that needed to be done for a few years now.
In the last few years, WrestleMania has felt flat. Sure, there was the Undertaker's streak, whatever celebrity they roped in for a match, and there was a great main event, but this was the Super Bowl of wrestling.
It felt like there should be something more.
It was obvious what was missing from the event.
Money in the Bank.
The idea was a great concept that could do well in its own pay-per-view but thrived when it was on wrestling's biggest stage. The concept that the winner could cash in the briefcase at the end of the night was exciting.
The idea that they might wait a year, knowing it probably wouldn't happen, but hoping was something that added to the grandeur.
WrestleMania isn't a main event. It isn't a celebrity or a certain angle.
It is a pyramid made of building blocks. Each one represents what a certain segment of the audience finds enjoyable.
Some like divas, while some come for the high-flyers. Others want to see the celebrity involved while a few want to see their personal favorites.
And yes, many tune in for the main event.
But WrestleMania has always been about the spectacle, and there is nothing quite like a few grown men being on the same ladder at once while reaching for a briefcase hanging from the ceiling.
The idea is so ludicrous that it could only happen at WrestleMania. No other company would tell their executives, "if you want the shot at a promotion, fight these guys and then grab the contract for a shot at our CEO's position from the roof."
It wouldn't happen.
That is what makes wrestling great, and up until 2010 it was what made WrestleMania a little bit greater as well.
The loss of Money in the Bank was terrible, but it has only been a few years. With the WWE reversing their decision to water down their best pay-per-view of the year it should help them in the long run.
It was a mistake to separate the two, but they learned from it and fixed it.
Now lets hope 2012 shows more of that same judgement.
Matthew Hemphill writes for the MMA and professional wrestling portion of Bleacher Report."
Will also add the excitement of which show is the briefcase holder going to cash in on.
Any thoughts?
PS
I thought this was such good news that I had to make an account to post.

much better as just one MITB match at WM, rather then having a MITB ppv.

I think it's an assumption made with the MITB PPV being removed from the schedule.
With such a stacked mania card as well i wouldn't be surprised as it's one way to get a lot of superstars a match at mania.

Its definite.
Why give the mitb to a guy who isn't main event material? Forcing them down our throat. All ex winners are doing nothing Tbh.
I don't see the point myself. I hope Ziggler or Rhodes don't win it,id rather see them get to the top legit.

Re: WWE taking MITB back to Mania
While I'm glad the concept of a MitB PPV is being dropped in favour of a MitB match at WM, I find it quite ironic that the two MitB PPV's we have had have actually been pretty good. It was one of my favourite PPV's of 2010, and we know all about MitB 2011 and how good that was.

I acctually would prefer for the money in the bank ppv to remain. Im all for a Wrestle Mania money in the bank aswell. But as said above the last 2 ppv have been a big sucsess in my view.

Re: WWE taking MITB back to Mania
Fair few people are saying good as the PPV didn't work etc.
Did they watch a different MITB PPV to me last year?
The one where Daniel Bryan won MITB, the one where Christian finally became champ? The one where CM Punk blew the roof off?
It was the best PPV for years and WWE don't think it's worth keeping?

But MITB was good because it had an excellent main event (Christian win was ExtremeRules), not because it was a MITB event. I personally think that returning to one match will ensure that there is a better overall line-up in the match as it will require less "chaff" to bulk up the line-up.
I would still favour a return to the King of the Ring as a spring/summer tournament to add a little bit of difference to the PPV calendar but focus more on it being an up and coming superstar than it being a chance to wheel the "royalty" gimmick out for a heel.

Re: WWE taking MITB back to Mania
'Mania only had the Money in the Bank match for a fraction of it's existence, and it didn't need it before, and I don't think it needs it now. Moving Money in the Bank to 'Mania does not solve any problems.
The Money in the Bank pay per view was one of the few gimmick match based pay per views which actually was successful and not repetitive. Money in the Bank 2011 was easily the best WWE event in the past year. The Money in the Bank matches, especially the Smackdown one, were probably two of the best Money in the Bank matches we have ever seen, the pay per view managed to get a big PPV feel about it without being a big four.
Sure the CM Punk/John Cena match led to a heavy fraction of that big PPV feel, but at the same time the Money in the Bank matches were excellent and I was certainly looking forward to them a lot, CM Punk drew me in, but once the PPV started, even without the main event, I would have been very happy with what I had seen.
