Post by Adam D Fri 03 Feb 2012, 1:10 pm

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Frank Maloney will be contributing to the 606v2 forum on a semi regular basis.

As we all know, Frank is a colourful character who doesnt mind sharing his insights on most subjects. He has been in boxing for over 27 years and managed Lennox Lewis to the undisputed world heavyweight championship as well as other fighters along the way.

Spoiler:
Frank is now responsible for the management of David Price, another great heavyweight prospect and I am sure he will be happy to share his insights into both David and the other fighters in his stable.

Please remember that Frank is giving up his time to answer your questions, so please remember to be respectful and keep it clean - I sound like a referee for a minute there!
Please also check out Franks website for all the latest boxing news and upcoming fights - www.frankmaloney.com

So post your questions below, and I will submit the bet ones to Frank over the coming week. If your question doesnt make it this first time, try again after the first round!

Seconds out.....

There has been a lot of talk over a potential fight between David Price and Tyson Fury, is this a fight you are looking to take?

Boxing promoting is a notoriously cut throat profession, what do you think are the keys to your longevity and who do you class as your best friends in the profession?

With the Olympics coming this years are there any Brits you feel we should look out for and how do you see our medal hopes?

What did you make of the fall out from the recent Amir Khan fight and the appeals that were launched?

For a number of reasons, some of which couldn't be helped, David Price has been fairly inactive (having had only 12 fights in close to 3 years) for someone at the start of their career.

How difficult is it to match-make for a genuine prospect like David and has this changed since you were guiding Lennox at a similar stage in his career?

Lennox Lewis' public persona was that of somebody always in control and calm, perhaps even to the point of his being remote and aloof.

Behind closed doors, did he ever reveal to you vulnerabilities, anxieties or even fears, concerning upcoming opponents?

If you could dispose of 2 of the world boxing authorities, which ones would you choose?

What do you think of Bob Arum?

If David Price becomes a world champ in a few years do you worry he will have no challengers which would help define his legacy?

A cheeky one - Could you please tell lewis to get rid of his dreadlocks/braided hair, it looks awful on a balding man! Wink

If you could have promoted Edwin Valero, how would you have dealt with his madness? and how would you have nurtured him into a fine respectable gent?

How do you feel about making assurances for boxers in their early stages giving that they're sacrificing a career elsewhere and have no real promises in the future unless they get to the levels that only around 5% achieve?

How closely do you follow the Amateur side of the sport, with regards signing new professional talent?

Have you already identified any amateur talents that you would like to sign after the Olympics?

Had Lennox Lewis' head been shaven, would Mccall's right hand have glanced off harmlessly?
If yes, why haven't you taken this precaution with David Price?
If No then fair enough.

Is cheese a fruit or a meat?

Had Chisora turned up in peak condition, would he have beaten Fury?

Haye v Price right now. Who wins?

Mayweather v Pacquiao. Who wins?

Harry Hill vs Hank Hill. Who wins?

Antonio Tarver chickened out of answering some of my tougher inquiries, do you think he should be stripped of his cruiserweight title for this?

How many British fighters will hold world titles by December 31st 2012?

What do you think of Riddick Bowe?

If you could choose to either have one world belt per division or boxing regularly broadast on terrestrial TV, which would you pick?

Tyson Fury's last fight was inexplicably dubbed the Hagler v Hearns of heavyweights by his promoter. What do you think is the actual Hagler v Hearns of heavyweights?

Hi, JabMachine.

While you're logged on could you please PM me the contact details for your trainer and your gym?

Thanks.

We're currently discussing the possibility of setting up a 'Grass Roots' boxing section and we have a proposal for your trainer, and would also like to do a Q&A with him. Obviously, we shall not compromise the security of your activities with Brook but, rather, we are more concerned with your gym and your trainer.

It's quite a sensitive question but I'll offer it anyway.....

Did the discovery of his talented charge Darren Sutherland's body change his outlook on life, Boxing and the way he promotes and handles his fighters????..

How has promoting changed since you started?

What would you change in boxing if you had the chance?

How would you rank british boxing atm in comparison to the last 20 years?

Would you give mayweather a 70/30 cut on a may 5th pacquiao fight?

Should mandatories be better managed so fighters like Chavez must fight Martinez?

Which (if any) weight divisions would you scrap?

How do you feel if your fighter is draining himself seriously to make weight?

You have been involved in the sport since before I was born but it's clearly corrupt. Between the sanctioning bodies and judges clearly on the take (maybe not brown envelopes but nice meals and all expenses paid stays at 5 star hotels). How do you do it and have you ever considered walking away from it?
