Gregor Townsend Out, but not really...

Well it looks like the SRU have thrown another curve ball. GT is leaving the Scotland setup and is due to become the head coach at Glasgow Warriors! Can't say I am too impressed to be honest:
1) Glasgow have been doing well, so why is Sean Lineen being moved on to a talent scouting role?
2) What has Townsend done to justify becoming HEAD coach, I have not heard of anyone who has been happy with what he achieved as an assistant coach?
3) What does this say to the other candidates who have accrued more coaching experience below the pro-level and wish to make the step up?
