SNS, do you recommend any books of Wodehouse or Saki in particular? I wouldn't know where to start with some of these authors.
Actually, think I was talking rubbish about huxley writing about vicorian era, don't think that's right, more early 1900s wasnt it? I agree with SNS about his humorous side as well, poked fun at certain things. Some of his characters were hilarious, like upper class ladies with morphine addictions that sleep around with younger men. The way Huxley wrote though, it didn't feel old fashioned, but rather quite contemporary.

I'll have to check our some more Huxley, and have wanted to read Brave New World - does that feature cloning quite heavily?
I do like his humour, particularly when taking mescaline/acid, I remember laughing when he describes going into the World's Largest Pharmacy and seeing a rack of childrens books and staring at a picture of a portrait painting and deciding it was the most incredible thing he'd ever seen (it's the way he talked about it).

He gives a great description of staring at a rose while under the influence as well, as I recall it.

Yeah, I can't remember it exactly (my memories terrible), but I do remember the rose part and the chapter on him wandering round the garden, to be really good.

Celtic Warrior wrote:I'd say my top 2 are:
Joseph Heller - Catch-22 and Dean Koontz - Intensity.
Honourable mentions go to The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie and Popcorn by Ben Elton.
I've just seen this, I've actually got The Gun Seller in the house and haven't got round to reading it yet - is it really good as I've heard some good reviews as well. Think I may have popcorn as well, but have read another Ben Elton book and wasn't too impressed.
