Your choice?

No contest is it...however i still maintain that Carroll hasnt been given the service he needs. If he is then i think he can show his potential (not worth £35m of course) as a powerhouse forward with good feet aswell.

Maybe rodgers will recognise this and provide more...i still think him and Suarez could be a very dangerous frontline.

Apparently Utd have won the race to Powell's signature. 4m initial fee with 2m add ons depending on the usual stipulations.

It's still really odd that he chose Chelsea, as you would have thought at City Kompany his international teammate and captain will have bigged up City while Lukaku has been ignored at Chelsea and so won't have had good things to say.

Speaking for myself olly, I think he's a good player, but I do hope he fails badly at Chelsea.

That's a good point Crimey, although Chelsea do have Lukaku, de Bruyne and Courtois too, although how many of them will actually be there during the season I don't know.

Have to say I'm gutted on missing out on him. I know he didn't really show much against England on Saturday but you don't get that many good teams after you without being good enough to back up the interest.

I think missing out to Chelsea will hurt Ferguson too, especially after losing Nasri to City last season

Not sure anyone is saying he is crap, a few might be pleased with an underwhelming performance against England though.

I reckon he will fail the 6 month test and be a long term success.

I'm sure hazard will be a success, looking forward to him linking up with Mata. However the guy I'm most looking forward to is hulk. He could take the prem by storm!

Can someone please tell me what the huge fuss about Kagawa is? Personally I think he might struggle to adapt to the physicallity of the prem...

Don't buy that to be honest, the Bundesliga is just as physical as the Premier League.

Saying you're excited about Hazard and think he'll be a success yet doubting that Kagawa will cope with the physicality is a bit strange, it's more likely to be the other way around.

This physicality is nonsense, its such a stereotypical view of the premier league. It makes it sound like a league where there are two footed tackles and elbows every second or something. If a player is good then he can adapt. Kagawa is quick and agile and he'll be fine in the PL imo. Can't wait to see him in a utd shirt. Just want to see Strootman, Baines and a RB (Clyne) then job done onto next season.

I've seen more of hazard than kagawa, based on watching the French league far more than the German league so maybe that's clouding my opinion as well. What little of kagawa I have seen I haven't been wowed and can see him getting boshed about. In many ways kagawa reminds me of people like robben (although not as good imo), big defenders will enjoy tackling him. As olly said as well the language barrier will be a problem.

Then there is the "is Kagawa a big name signing?" question. So far id say that Hazard, Podolski and Hulk are bigger names (not that bigger names means success *cough* Shevchencko *cough*). With City yet to sign anyone it does look like United are being left behind again which is a bad thing for the league as it would be great if United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal were all scrapping for the whole season with 1-4 not decided until may.

To be fair, they said De Gea would struggle and since Xmas he's been immense. They thought Hernandez would struggle but he's turned into a Jacamo. I think he'll be fine.

Hazard might get snapped in half by Shawcross though.

The language barrier may prove a problem off of the pitch as he'll struggle to settle in, but on the pitch I don't think it'll be a huge problem. Tevez has been a success at every club in the Premier League despite not knowing any English.

I'm not sure how "big" of a name they are matters at all. Manchester United tend not to make big name signings, Ronaldo replaced Beckham, Beckham himself replaced Kancheslkis. United are more prone to signing potential and turning them into greats.

I think the big name aspect matters in a "look who we signed" kind of way. We all know city will sign at least one huge name and that alone will hurt united. Even though I'm not a united fan in any sense it worries me that they appear not to be able to compete financially.

Modric is looking like he's leaving spurs, Chelsea apparently interested again. Where does he fit into the attack?! Also vdw is apparently a done deal according to dutch sources

Gregers you must be excited about the season ahead. I can't remember a time when my team went out and bought 3/4 big names.

I am worried about us. We are struggling to hold onto our youth players and can't seem to get anyone in. Frankly, it's down to money just now. No one cares about history. Our only hope is to play it down for the next few years in the hope that Chelsea and Man City eventually run out of money, which isn't very likely. Will these high wages and high fees lead to a golden age for English football or the death of it?
