PREMIERSHIP REVIEW:

Well we have ourselves our inaugural Premier League Champion as Mr consistent himself Manos Die Piedra scores a healthy 7 in the final week to overhaul 88chris05 and claim not just the league title but with it immunity from relegation in Season 2. Missing out by just 2 points was Tophat24/7 who scored a hefty 10 this week to climb above his nearest competitors. 88chris05 finished 3rd but will be left ruing his final weeks picks as he had his worst points total with a meagre 2! Claiming the final coveted top 4 spot was Compelling & Rich who pips Randy77 based on having the highest individual score across the 4 weeks. Whilst those finishing in 2nd, 3rd & 4th will be disappointed not to have won the title their final positions does mean a later entry into the next OMPL Cup. Elsewhere lfc91 chose a good time to have a strong week as his 13 points steered him safely away from relegation, he will hope that he can carry on his good form and make a challenge for the title next season. Taking the mantle of ‘The Great Escape’ it was an incredible week for DavidBlunkettsUppercut whose ten points meant a last day escape from relegation...more Premier League predictions await for him next season. As for the unfortunate soles it was a miserable end to a miserable season for sodhat whose solitary point was never going to aid him in his battle for survival. Alanqlm, Ermietrude & DaveVDK join him with all three failing to get predictions in often enough to stand a chance. Incredibly AdamK joins them...after looking comfortable all season he decided that this was the week to fail to get his predictions in. The result...Championship football next season.

CHAMPIONSHIP REVIEW

What a final weekend it was in the Championship as everyone fought tooth & nail to attempt to get into the glamour of the Premier League. In the end Imperial Ghosty ran away with the title amassing an impressive 55 points. He was an unknown quantity with his late arrival this season but has been the stand out player...based on his form he could surprise again next year in the top flight. 2nd place went to tomfinneywalksonwater who has consistently been in and around the top this season and thoroughly deserved his spot in the Premiership. The remaining 3 automatic promotion spots saw surprises and change galore. In a staggering final weekend ShahenshahG & sherm came from nowhere to steal their spots. 6oldenbhoy despite a meagre 5 points managed to cling onto the final automatic spot. As1079 had a strong week and his 12 was good enough to grab him a 2nd chance for promotion, taking 1 of 4 playoff places. Joining him is owen10ozzy & PPVxHOTTY (whose 19 in week 2 is the only reason he grabbed a play-off place rather than face relegation). The final playoff spot goes to Alma...at the expense of spencerclarke (separated merely by the fact Alma’s 2nd highest week total was more than spencerclarke’s). It was a case of heartache for soldier of fortune & barneyrubble who went from automatic promotion places to missing out altogether due to a poor week in which both only managed 3 points. As for the relegation places they remain the same...bellchees & John Bloody Wayne will think what may have been had they got their predictions in each week. Much like Knowsit whose failure to predict in 2 of the 4 weeks was always going to leave him up against it. As for Hampo171...well the form book doesn’t lie and his poor prediction skills left a lot to be desired. All 4 players will now be banished from competing in Season 2 and will have to wait for their opportunity to prove themselves. (Please note you will still be eligible to compete in the cup competition).

OMPL predictor of the week was much easier to decide this week with only a few high scorers. In the end taking it by 1 point was lfc91 whose boldness and predictions steered him clear of any relegation aswell as helping him to his first Predictor of the week reward.

In terms of the scoring, if one does not pick the correct winner does that mean its irrelevant if they get the method of victory correct? For instance I think pretty much everyone picked Theophane to win so does that mean nobody gets points for that fight?

No complaints. I prefer it that way. From the scoring rules though it looked like there was a point for predicting the winner, a point for the method and a point for the stage it occured. I thought that might have meant if you picked Green to beat Kessler by early KO for example you might get more points than in you picked Kessler by UD which would not have made much sense to me.

And manos...i see what you mean but its a case of you have to get winner for your 1st point, method 2nd, exact type i.e. ud/eko for 3rd point (all three gets you the bonus) so essentially you cant have one without the other.
