We've done pretty well overall, Nannes taken some stick but bowled OK really, now on a hat-trick as I type! Nice juggling catch from Monty Third Degree in the deep.

Kent 136 - 8 - which itself represents a creditable performance from the bowlers whatever we get up to in the reply. Also the team has a reasonable balance of batsmen - whether they perform or not is another matter

The Brain and Ansari digging in. Still I am sure the Brain is up for the challenge once the required run rate gets to about 12

Kartik is sent in ahead of Spriegel - and promptly gets out for 0. Again. The Brain also implodes leaving us at 70 - 7. Extras putting in a decent performance, but that's about it.

Re: t20 cup
That was pretty hard to watch. all out for 88, the players just look absolutely devastated, particularly Roy and Batty, their mate's funeral was yesterday in Cardiff and today they're trying to care about a game of cricket, they need the winter break now.

2 sixes in a row seals a pretty comprehensive win for Yorkshire over Notts. Back to the top of the group and into the qf. 1 more win and we'll have a home draw too.

Good all round performance for the boys. Rafiq still unbeaten as captain.

Another pretty pathetic T20 effort from Middx last night - two batsmen in double figures. Nice to see young Ollie Wilkin, who did well on TV for Ealing at club finals day last year get a game, and take 3-12.

surrey had a shocker last night, although their head's clearly arent in it at the moment, due to obvious reason!

Surrey 154 - 4. They would have hoped for more considering how many wickets they had in hand. But it is at least a credible total - and several batsmen, Roy in particular, put together useful scores. Maybe we have at least started to turn the corner....

Matt Prior has 66 off 28 balls so far Clearly he was only warming up against Surrey the other night.....

Agreed - although the players won't see it that way and I feel for them, particularly Batty.

We can pretty much blame tonight's loss on Dirk Nannes entirely! He really has been a complete failure, not sure how he jusitifies being picked ahead of Meaker or Brain ahead of Burns for that matter but never mind

Hants/Essex called off despite no rain in 4 hours and the sun shining. Will things like this really encourage youngsters to play cricket?

Re: t20 cup
This is typical of Surrey's luck at the moment and of our T20 season so far. The rain comes just as KP (provided he could be bothered) or The Roy (provided he remembered to get bat on the straight deliveries) was gearing up to make the highest ever individual score in a 20-20 game and Surrey the highest ever successful run chase.

Re: t20 cup
...and thereby discredited the D/L system once and for all. There's no way we would have chased down the huge total Sussex were well on the way to posting (even if Nannes had only one over left to bowl ). Thank goodness this outrageous miscarriage of justice didn't affect anything with respect to the final Group placings.
Looking at it another way, however, a win is a win and today's was the first game we haven't lost since Tom Maynard's death. I don't think the importance of crossing that particular Rubicon can be underestimated. Let's hope it puts the squad in the right frame of mind as we prepare to resume a different form of the game with a crucial 'wrong end of the table' CC1 game later this week.

Re: t20 cup
We lost but just about scraped through. Compton looked a very good player, and Hildreth.
We are too reliant on our top three, hence why Hughes had to play a contained innings today otherwise we wouldn't have got to the small total that we did set, the rest of the batting line up is weak and there isn't enough strike-power in the bowling though our spinners are good. Tough match up next but it'd be great to get through to a final's day, Worcs never been in one before.

Whichever, I'm very pleased for the team to have got some sort of victory at last, even if with considerable helping hand from D/L.

Corporal and others,
I did of course mean '...can be overestimated.' - thanks, good spot And it might have been less dramatic also to say 'potential importance' earlier tin the post too.
I have now opened a beer so any further posts this evening should make more sense

Re: t20 cup
Folks - yes, an incredibly generous decision by D/L although we were certainly overdue (Simon might say underdue ) a bit of good fortune.
Delighted for the team and the leading Roundhead in particular (good point, well made on the Surrey thread, Corporal ).
