Keeper Rules

- 3 players per year max.
- Can keep players twice (so three years total per guy) before forcible release.
- Players take the value of there draft round in the first redraft.
- Players move up in value by 5 rounds for the second redraft, or as high as they can go otherwise.
- If you end up with stacked picks (multiple players as keepers who count as the same round) they build up backward. e.g. if my keepers are draft picks 3, 4 and 5 I would loose draft picks 3, 4 and 5 in the first redraft and 1, 2 and 3 in the second as each player would be upgraded to an effective 1st rounder by the 5 round rule and therefore stack up.
- Undrafted players are valued at round 10 for the first redraft.
- Traded players initially count as there drafted position with the +5 rule in effect for all subsequent years.
- Years of eligibility are team specific, based on the round value of the player when traded to you. e.g. if a player is drafted in round 12 and is kept by another team for one season they will be valued as a round 7 pick when traded in year two due to the +5 rule.
- Abuse of the above rule by trading away a player over the keeper period only to get them back afterward will invalidate the resetting of two year eligibility.
- Once a player has no eligibility left on a given team they will count as a 1st rounder if traded away to somebody else and retained

Really sorry Barney, it does look grim for your unbeaten record but you never know - Eagles secondary was dreadful last week against the Skins so you can't rule out Smith having a big night but at the same time, he would have to post the kind of numbers that he hasn't come close to getting this season.

All will be revealed in a few hours time....

I've taken over the mighty ( Wink

) Flynn it to win it franchise.

I've not done a Keeper League before, so if someone could briefly explain the main differences then that would be great.

Reading the OP, i assume you can keep a max of 3 players for the following season. Do all the others, including next years NFL draft, go into the pot for reselection? Also, is the draft order random or based on the preceeding years record (at 2-10 i hope so!).

Only 6 points. Im glad he didn't get more because it means that leaving Morris on the bench didn't really matter. Would've had to start Stafford as well and I was never going to do that. Oh well congrats, good old RG3.

Cheers Barney! Very gracious of you

I do feel a bit sheepish though as I know you'll be a bit gutted at getting so close to the perfect season. For what it's worth, I'll be surprised if you don't go on and win the thing as that's a pretty awesome team you've got and at least you didn't give this game away - 88 points is the kind of total that will win you as many games as it loses. Like you said above, it's all a game of chance at the end of the day and you just ran in to my team on a week when the guys who need to play well for me to win pretty much all did that. Gettin Garcon back was big for me too - that was easily his biggest game since week 1. Took a bit of punt on him this week by sticking him in. Sounded from the way the Shanahans were talking that they were going to try and make him more a factor again this week and that's how it turned out.

Welcome to the league TM!!! Crazy Dave or Forward Pass are probably the best guys to talk you through the ins and outs. Sounds to me like you already have as much of an understanding as I do - I just discovered last week that only 4 teams make the playoffs!!!! What did transpire in that discussion though was that the draft order does indeed appear to be set based in reverse order of where you finish this year, i.e. last shall be first! Having said that, that does give you a big decision to make cos if you want to keep your guy who was taken in the first round last year then you'll have to give up your over number 1 pick to get him!! The flip side of that is that cos you'll be at the bottom of the 2nd round - you might get good value in keeping your guy who was picked in the 2nd round last year depending on who that was.

Yeah I like the team a lot but I am very fearful of Corn on the Schaub especially. Think they'll go on to get number 1 seed. Hoping this isn't the beginning of a bad patch just like the Packers last year. Ah well I'm sure with RG3 at the helm you'll be a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of seasons. He can keep you in any game almost single handedly when he's on form which seems to be more often than not.

This week sees the biggest game of the year with the exception of the Championship game. I hope everyone has got their tickets for the Basement Bowl! The Diddley Poos up against Flynn It To Win It, loser looks to get the No. 1 pick next year. This clearly reflect much worse on me as I've actually been trying to win all season, not been a good year for me in this or the West league. Still, at least I have Andrew Luck for the next couple of years now and thanks to trading away junk (and now injured) Matt Forte I have my first round pick.

Can't believe my luck, what are the chances Forte gets injured 2 days after I trade for him, letting go of a surefire keeper for next year!

As an aside, GB1919 I sent you a couple of trades in the West league, not sure if you can renegotiate now but let me know either way!

Sad to see Rodgers put up a duff performance, the Pack lost and in the process your shot at 100% went... or at least my shot to try and end it in the final week

I've put you up on the OP now, but crediting you only from week 12 for your sanity!

Basically
- Keep 3 players.
- Everyone else goes into the pot for re-selection, plus all the draft picks and FA's
- Draft order is reverse order of standings with Superbowl style placings for the main playoff bracket (such that the official winner picks last even if they were the 4th seed)
- Draft will still (as far as has been agreed) remain under snake format, so certain teams get better value in "even" rounds and other in "odd" rounds.
- For this year everyone is worth their draft slot (whoever drafted them and even if they have then since hit the FA wire and then gone back on a team). It gets more complex from next year simply due to all the permutations that are possible, but I have made a spreadsheet that calculates absolutely everything!
- If they were never drafted then they are worth a round 10 pick. Not sure I can name anyone who will likely fit this bill (Last year you would have had Cruz and Demarco Murray).
- If you have two players for whatever reason drafted from the same round, then one of them will move down a round. (e.g. a 2 second rounders would become a 2 and 3)

There are more rules, but there all listed up top... ask for a full description of a particular rule Smile

Main thing to note... Be wary of what you may be left with if you decide to give up an early round pick on the assumption you will get someone better.
I went through my assumed keepers by team when testing my spreadsheet and I projected about 70-80% of the first 3 rounds being kept by their owners. There are some obvious later ones like Luck and RG3 at about round 6 or Randall Cobb at round 12, but I imagine most of the big guys will remain pretty similar.

Yeah it was a double whammy with the Packers playing horrendously and losing the streak. It's a solid team you have there as well. Our game in the last week will more than likely decide the number 1 seed and you've got the longest winning streak left. I'm happy to be able to choose between Rodgers, Peterson, Spiller, Jones and Morris to keep and I think I've made my mind up but I'll be sad to see some of them go, hope I can redraft the ones I don't keep.

AAARRRRGHGHGH!!! I lost by 1.1 points this week!! Compounded by the fact that I meant to put Greg Olsen in my team instead of Dustin Keller, got too busy and ended up forgetting to do it. Keller got 1 point. Olsen got 10. Playoff hopes pretty much dead now Crying or Very sad

Right I have updated the tables and will get playoff scenarios up soon. Seems to be relatively simple even if it looks like there is a congested patch at 6-7. Thunder and Lightning wins and there in as division champs regardless of what happens with the 6-7 teams... if they loose... then it's complicated

- Owns tiebreaker over Enter RG3 and They Put a Hole in the Roof but not Flying High, BamBams Warriors or Thunder and Lightning

The Diddley Poos:
- Fighting for Consolation Playoff place only.

Flynn it to Win it:
- Number One Draft Pick locked up.

Division 2
Sri Lanka Rams:
- Division Champion.
- 1st Seed with a win.
- 2nd Seed with a loss.

They Put a Hole in the Roof:
- Must win and have Thunder and Lightning lose to stand any chance.
- Owns tiebreaker over BamBams Warriors and Thunder and Lightning, but not Memphis Hound Dogs or Flying High. Split series with Enter RG3.

Enter RG3:
- Must win against Thunder and Lightning to stand any chance.
- Subsequently would own the tiebreaker over Thunder and Lightning, but not Memphis Hound Dogs or Flying High. Split the series with They Put a Hole in the Roof and BamBams Warriors

BamBams Warriors:
- Must win and have Thunder and Lightning lose to stand any chance.
- Owns the tiebreaker over Memphis Hound Dogs and Thunder and Lightning. Lost H2H with They Put a Hole in the Roof and split the series with Enter RG3.
- Plays Flying High for the tiebreaker this week

Division 3
Prestige Worldwide:
- Playoff spot guaranteed.
- Division Champion & 3rd Seed with a win; or with a loss and a Thunder and Lightning loss.
- 4th Seed Wild Card with a loss and a Thunder and Lightning win.

Thunder and Lightning:
- Division Champion & 3rd Seed with a win and a Prestige Worldwide loss.
- 4th Seed Wild Card with a win and a Prestige Worldwide win.
- Loss puts them at risk. Subsequently would own the tiebreaker over Memphis Hound Dogs and Flying High, but not They Put a Hole in the Roof, BamBams Warriors or Enter RG3.

Flying High:
- Must win and have Thunder and Lightning lose to stand any chance.
- Owns tiebreakers against Enter RG3, Memphis Hound Dogs and They Put a hole in the roof but not Thunder and Lightning.
- Plays BamBams Warriors for the tiebreaker this week

Second Hand Secondary:
- Fighting for Consolation Playoff place only.

Corn on the Schaub down by about 11 with Wes Welker to play Steven Gostkowski.
Its going to be tough, but if the Pats get TDs and not FGs then I bet one will be to Wes

And in terms of the final playoff spot it appears that I could have jinxed Thunder and Lightning by suggesting they would win this week. There still in with a chance but they have a lot to overcome in one game.

This would throw it open for Memphis Hound Dogs, BamBams Warriors and They Put a Hole in the Roof.

What a close finish
Tie breaker was incredibly close as my 4-2 record in H2H games edged out 3 teams who had 3-3 or 2-2 records

I'm now petrified after Prestige Worldwide nabbed the Detroit Lions who will no doubt be gifted a bundle of points by Ryan Lindley!

Disappointed to miss out on the play offs by one place, especially going into last weekend as 6th seed and seeing the 4th and 5th seeds lose.

That said I knew on head-to-heads that whatever happened last weekend one 7-7 team was going to finish ahead of me. Unless of course the unlikely outcome of a tie in the BamBams games

I lost my chance the week before that losing a 30 point lead to Bryce Brown (only 1.20 points this weekend) and Dez Bryant.

Even more disappointed that Cam Newton had just started finding form, my team was getting big points and I fancied my chances of winning the league had I scrambled into the play offs.

What a close finish
Tie breaker was incredibly close as my 4-2 record in H2H games edged out 3 teams who had 3-3 or 2-2 records
