Yes about right - I think positions 4 - 10 are fairly fluid with lots of new signings it depends how they gel.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
I would say the first three in some order and the last two are right but the rest could be all over.
Sale all depends on their half backs

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
to me, Ladbrokes has it better than Sky: The top 4 better than 2.5/1.
Only exception I see is Oxford Welsh should be 1,000,000/1.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
Id be inclined to agree with ladbrokes personally but quins showed last year that it is possible to break into the top 4 and to top the table in 1 season.
There are several clubs that could threaten the top 4 if:
1) Their aquistions hit the ground running
2) They can avoid injuries/international call ups to key players
3) They play well..
Only really welsh and worcester do not have a realistic chance of the top4 and I think worcester could suprise a few too.

The big disparity between Ladbrokes & Sky is Sale.
Difficult tp predict with the new players coming in.

I can't see sale beig fourth, no chance. Some good signings and a good season last year, but Heineken will be a distraction and redpath destroyed glos!

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
I think Exeter may have a bit of a drop off this season with the weight of expectation a little heavier on them this time around, along with the added workload of the Heineken Cup.
Wasps could surprise a few I think this season, they have made some decent signings.

Those are the odds to make the play-offs.
The Sky rankings match those made by Stuart Barnes in the Sunday Times.

I was wondering!
Leicester 5/6 to make the playoffs. Great odds there.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
It's not a good thing to be predicted to be 1st by Stuart Barnes is it?
I agree more with Ladbrokes predictions as others have said. Particularly looking at Gloucester. Gloucester are the dark horses in my opinion.
There's been a lot of hype surrounding Sale but surely that's just the Cipriani bandwagon?
HQ matt I predicted Quins to be dark horses last season and so it proved. They were on the end of quite a few tight losses. Quins stole a march on the opposition. Going to be harder for them and other sides to do this. The RWC really helped Quins.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
I'm not sure how Sky has come up with that top 3.
Last year Tigers were garbage for the 1st half of the season yet finished 2nd, just a point behind Quins. This year its arguable that they've strengthened the team and wont have a world Cup to worry about.
I'd be suprised if they didn't finish at least second at the end of the regular season.

Hopefully 8th isn't the best I can hope for!!!
Although agree with others, 3/4th - 10th is very close this year, teams like Sale/Gloucester and others have recruited well.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
Jimpy I would agree with that. Tigers are the favourites to top the table.Racking up the try bonus points every year helps this.
As I have said many times Quins will have a lot more to worry about this season.
No new recruits to bolster their squad whereas other clubs have made some very astute signings.
They'll get more international recognition - hence more players missing in the international windows. Also their rivals will be missing less players.
Will be tough to replicate their first half of the season run.
Quins have a very favourable HC group - expectations are they'll get a HC semi which stretches strength in depth further.
Rival clubs will have marked the new champions as a real scalp - expect opposition sides to fight even harder. Particularly Saracens and Leicester will be hungry for vengeance.
Still think Quins will sneak into the top 4 though.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
Quins will definitely find it tougher this season for the reasons you mention beshocked. I also think that Exeter will find it tougher as well.
I think Gloucester are also being over rated by some, as I don't see them having really improved up front in the summer, and that is where they lost a lot of games last season.
Sale will be a bit of an unknown quantity with all the new signings, as will Wasps, and Northampton have a few new faces as well as some established players who need to perform better than they did last season.
I think Saracens and Tigers will definitely be top two, but after that it is very difficult to call, and if someone can hit the ground running in the first few weeks, they could be in for a very good season, as I can see quite a few sides in the pack suffering from inconsistency throughout.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
Ozzy3123 remember the new coach worked for Scarlets. They hardly used to be known for their scrummaging abilities but he developed their backs well. This serves Gloucester's purpose as their backs are really exciting plus he's brought on Morgan too.
I think for a lot of sides it's about mental strength - winning the tight encounters. This is an area Exeter,Saracens,Leicester and Quins particularly have done well in last season.
Gloucester seemed to have performed well in the perceived bigger matches e.g. Saracens,Toulouse,Leicester but gone missing against other opposition.
People forget that Gloucester beat Toulouse in the HC.

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
How do people see Saracens being impacted by their wandering this season?
Given that they are almost giving up home advantage for a few games early in the season, will we see a few upsets?

Mawhis look at the Saracens away record. It's excellent. We lost more games at home than away
Played 22
Won 7/11 at home, 1 draw vs Gloucester - 3 losses vs Leicester,Quins and Wasps (last two weren't at VR admittedly)
Won 9/11 away - 2 losses - Saints and Worcester

Re: Sky's Prediction for the Jeff
I don't think it's about being away, as technically you are going to be the 'home' team on a neutral ground. Will be interesting to see how that is approached mentally, both by yourselves and your opponents.
If you look at your record at neutral venues such as Twickenham and Wembley, as that is effectively what Wembley is, it's not actually as good as your home or away records I don't believe.

Tbf, Glaws were challenging top 4 untill Nick Wood got injured and Brush royally screwed us over.
Plus, half the first team were on new contracts elsewhere. I'd stick money on 6th place if I were a betting man.
