So now here's Argentina real test (as the Wales test didn't count much). They're up against a team that can negate their play but also has the firepower behind.

Argie are offering nothing at all going forward now, kicking the leather off the ball, if france can just start dealing with the bomb they should win this at a canter.

Gutted I missed the first half, neither team has produced anything this half, and Argentina have been very stereo typical!!!

You maybe only watched the first top 14 games, when it was dull . But after the 2/3 first games, it became exciting again . I'm sure you didn't watch many matches lately .

Argentina's boring rugby on display for most of the game again. Saying that, why didn't France kick for the corner with this latest penalty?

Game over, I saw nothing of note from either team there, Argentina throwing numbers at the breakdwon and kicking everything they could, France could not deal with the high ball and gave silly penalties away.

Going to have to watch the first half to judge either of these teams.

And that penalty to France gives them a 17 point margin and max ranking gain.

Strange scoreline, France havnt looked like scoring at all in this half and Argentina have been very solid, but they are going to lose by 17 points and have conceded near 40.

Great attitude from france, not happy with the win want to really press home the difference too.

France not giving up here. They run out of time but run the ball . They win a penalty and keep playing. They're looking for another try here. They win another penalty. 5 metres out. Ball goes wide.

And another penalty. France call a scrum. They're looking to put the boot in here.

Two and half minutes over. Michalak attacks. He's held up. France retain. Pape lunges for the line. Held back. Another attack. Repelled.

Held on the line. Ref blows up.

Never mind. Job done and max points for the French.

FT - France 39 - 22 Argentina. Arg lucky not to see yellow given the penalty count in the 2nd half I think.

That is a very strong France side. Second best team in the world right now maybe?

Anyone else think that watching a 4:3 aspect ratio game in SD stretched to widescreen and upscaled just makes the game seem faster and more dynamic? or were France really as good as they looked?

Some of that distribution was just lightening.

What was strong in that 2nd half rodders?? They just let Argentina give them shots at goal over and over.

Didn't see the first half but saw tries now, IMHO good but hardly great.

Thanks Rodders, I've been saying it for some time but my thread on it was treated as a WUM.

Well France just made themselves certaintys for the 6N based on the matches so far- 2 wins over two of the RC sides out of 2, where the remaining 5N only have the Scots solitary win over Oz in the Summer from around 15 attempts.

Whew...a new low? Lets hope the remaining matches can go a little better for them...

Totally agree. Only New Zealand can distribute like that. Maybe France being no.2 in world rugby isn't a bad call.

Well at least Arg love fest on V2 might end, until they beat Ireland next week anyway. Do you reckon they can overcome Kidney's 'Munster' game? It's another style that negates Argentina's own.

Although the backs distribution was very silky it wasn't effective at all from what I saw, the dummy runners were lazy at times, and groups of players didn't commit any defenders.

From what I saw in the 2nd half Argentina never looked like being broken in open play, and especially not from the wider channels.

Picamoles is looking superb this year. Shame New Zealand aren't playing France this Autumn as that would be mouth watering game

There was only one half to watch, the whole first one .
Then, everybody switched the lights off .

Maybe I'm adding 2+2 and getting 5 but I don't think its hyperbole to say France are the nearest challenger to the ABs just now.

I see your rationale, but I didn't watch the first half and from the 2nd I saw very little impressive rugby from either.

Argentina are a strong side but lets not get OTT when it comes to beating Wales, Samoa comfortably turned us over too and IMHO Canada and Japan wouldve beaten us!

Lets be honest at this very second in time France have showed more than most but if we're just using these 2 games we are very short sighted, Aus were very poor and Argentina reverted to type!

IMHO France are still top 3 6N team as long as they could keep the team performing but there is very little between them England and Wales, and the 6N will show that next season.

The 6N is a long way away Bluesman, I won't be making predictions about that...but two games into the AI's I'd say France should be happiest of the NH teams and look in a better place than the Boks or Wallabies. That's all I can say on it. The 6N is a clean slate for all of us.

Wales by a mile, you know beating them at a canter at home for a GS. And I'd say finishing 4th and only winning 2 6N games was a very poor season for the french!

Oh, SH or NH as the case may be...not hat Im expecting to win...

You know what I would happily accept that bet and to make it fairer I'll abolish Wales from the equation, Italy and Scotland aren't realistic winners IMO (now Ive said that watch a Scotland resurgance)

To go back to the original topic.

France looked superb in the first half - so fluid and fast in attack and leaving no gaps in defence. Argentina punched themselfs out really - looks like a game too far for them but this France team look the real deal

Lovely first try from Argentina but France showed good use of the boot to unlock the Argentinian line. Woeful tackling for France's third try and Argentina seemed to run out of puff.

Going to be a great 3 test match series in NZ especially if France play well in the 6N because going on current form, they look the best in Europe at the moment.
