He went to england to play county Cricket, well he is the 12th man for the Proteas in the Wanderers test, his dad just phoned me, so although it isn't a cap per say, he might get an opportunity to field a bit in the test.

Did he get on today?

considering how short the Proteas bowling innings are, probably not

Yeah, at least he gets to learn a little from Steyn and Co.

That would be a great experience for him, Biltong.

I saw your blokes close up in November - they are a nice, neat bunch of players.
Kallis and Smith are like the King and Prince. AB looks deceptively laid-back, Hashim; kool az.. and Alan Donald still has that aura!
It would be fantastic to be part of that team/coaching set up.

I saw him Friday, Biltong, he looks a good strong lad.

SA tends to pick local kids for 12th man, so obviously this says nothing about his ability, but for the Franchise to select him means they think him to be a good boy with good descipline and a hunger to learn. These are all good characteristics that will hold him in goor stead.

From what his dad told me he was bowling at 132 kph last summer, so he isn't slow, he explained to me that there will be a new U23 provincial cricket league in SA when the new season starts in September and Gauteng has expressed interest in him, so it seems the young man will get an opportunity.

I spoke to my mate this morning, he says Carmi had a great time, he spoke at length to Alan Donald as he sat next to him a lot of the time, Dale Steyn was very approachable and often when Carmi took drinks and a towel for him to the boundary, Steyn would encourage him to stay and chat.

According to Carmi, Kallis is a very quiet and reserved guy, he would be friendly but even with his teammates he is rather reserved.

Carmi obviously knows Alviro Petersen as he plays for the Lions and Carmi has trained with them a number of times.

Overall he says it was a great experience and he was asked to be there again for the ODI against Pakistan at Wanderers.

Is he any relation to Garth Le Roux the former Sussex and SA fast bowler. Incidentally does anyone know how fast in mph speeds Garth Le Roux bowled at during his first class career?
