Jonny Gray's been picked to play for Glasgow warriors this week, based on his previous performance and performances for Scotland u20 when will we see him in the full side. Considering he started for the u20s aged 17 and is captaining them aged 18.

Well I think Nick Campbell and Grant Gilchrist may have something to add to this thread, both pretty handy young locks perhaps more suited to playing the enforcer role alongside Gray (not that Gray could play 4 with his brother at 5).
They key for me with Gray jnr is really going to be how he develops physically. He's roughly the same size as Joe Launchbury, making him not the tallest lock in the world, but powerful. Might be an idea to interchange him between lock and blindside over the next few years just to ensure that his breakdown work and workrate are top notch. Do that and we'll have a fine player.

On the list of alternatives I notice this year's Lions tour has been omitted. Some mistake surely?

Jonny is only 18. So he's still got about 18 months of growing to do. So considering he's what 6'5" now... Could hit Richie's height yet. Probably level off at 6'8"
He's considered to be the better player of the two as well. Certainly by the SRU, he got shipped off to NZ over last summer on the MacPhail Scolarship. He's unassuming in person for such a big guy and looks much more in proportion than Richie does. Richie is a beanpole, Jonny is more of a beanstalk!

The other lock in the U20s Sinclair (plays at Perpignan) looks pretty promising as well I would say.

Jonny seems a well grounded (except at line outs!) young guy who has a big future in the game going by his interview on Alba Friday ht
