so cook new england odi captain im very suprised i would have gone for kp what does everyone else think?

i think we need to give him time before we can judge.
i think he deffo needs to be in the squad atleast though. as he have very few players that can hit the ball with any real strength. except KP who is very hit and miss.

I think England are just fastracking him to captaincy, just a bit odd that he has'nt really played for england in ODI cricket for a substantial amount of time. But has played ODI welkl for Essex in the past, i think he will do well and good luck to h9im

Things need to be taken into perspective, Cook's decent form in the CB40 and ODI cricket are totally different.
In domestic cricket the medium pacers get flogged around. Will Cook be more successful vs the best bowlers in the World? After 26 ODIs and an average of 33, I'd say no.
Bell could easily have opened or Trott move up to open.

I would have went with Bell very experienced and has finally found his part in the England side so IMO it would be a good choice.
