BT Sport makes its move

BT Sport 1 and 2 will be free to BT Broadband customers. That is quite a lot of sport, including 38 live Premier Games. Quite incredible move, and might break the near-monopoly of Sky Sports. Hats off to BT for that.

And it's much better than the dross that ESPN, Setanta, or ITV digital ever had.

Not sure about that, setanta had loads of top class boxing. As well as football, rugby and ufc. The boxing being the biggest difference.

Certainly not the best broadband company, sky, Virgin and plusnet are all better and cheaper.

It's cheaper to get another provider and just pay for bt sport.

Bt internet is very poor, I had Virgin for 6 years without any issues then switched to bt which has been nothing but agro.

I subscribed to Setanta for the boxing alone. The football was an added bonus. They aired some quality boxing during their time.

Well worth the tenner a month was Setanta.

I pay £28 a month with BT for internet phone line and bt tv which includes bt sports. You wont get that cheaper on any other provider.

Yeah we got BT broadband at Dads and it sucks, Sky at Mums is 10 times better

Not sure whether I like BT Sports coverage or not, the commentary is decent with the ref input, dont like the studio stuff tho

BT Broadband is ace. Specifically, the Infinity bit. No complaints.

It all depends what the connection is like in you're local area, as my brother is a pro poker player, he obviously relays on the internet. Orange and SKY were not fast enough, BT we have no complaints what so ever. As for the sport coverage, it is good as its free and in our sky channels, but i would never pay any money for it, not good enough for that, Sky Sports is fine.

It's all about personal preference, having moved recently I thought i'd give BT a go but once my contract is up i'll be straight back to Virgin. BT sport is a nice added bonus but it's not going to make up for the poor internet connection in my area, I get enough football with SKY and only really interested in the Man United games anyway but boxing coverage is a must.

I get my broadband, phone calls and TV subscription (including all Sky premium channels) via Virgin Media and I'm getting BT Sport. Perhaps it could have something to do with paying for my landline via BT, but to be honest, I've not been over impressed with BT's presentation of matches so far. Michael Owen and his relentless repetition of the same catch phrases over and over is beginning to grate. I'm going to tune into Radio 5 live commentary, if they are covering a game, that is screened by BT, and turn the volume on the TV down.

The bottom line, is that I will cheerfully take BT sport (Michael Owen notwithstanding) as long as I'm not paying any more for it, but if at any time they start asking me to stump up cash for it, I'll say "Thanks, but no thanks".

Well if you only care about the EPL and you will not watch a game because michael owen is the commentator then go ahead and cancel. But BT sport offers all the biggest UFC fights, Tennis, Rugby, baseball, italian football, french football, german footbal, fa cup europa league and international football.

If you want to have a happy w*nk about lower tier continental football then feel free but all the biggest and best Spanish games are on SS, little from the other leagues bar Dortmund and Bayern is worth watching, same with professional homo wrestling. You also don't need BT for the best Tennis or Rugby coverage. And who the hell cares about American bloody baseball??

Don't get me wrong, if you're a workshy tax-avoiding bum with lots of spare time on your hands and a passion for literally anything sporty then maybe BT can float your boat.

SS coverage these days is embarrassing. Their 'experts' are more interested in making themselves sound worldly than talking about the game in question, their presenters are all annoying, and there are more adverts than the 20mins before the film at the cinema. I'd rather pay £20 a month for BT Sport than get SS for free

Gary Neville is the best pundit, across any sport and any channel, on television.

How you can deride SS coverage and then back BT just makes you look either clueless or an utter wum.

Or that I prefer my pundits to talk about the sport in question rather than preening for the cameras.

Gary Neville is nowhere near as good as Andy Gray used to be. And hearing his whiny Manc voice just irritates me. Then you have to look at him, the smug little get. I'd rather watch table tennis than listen to him prattle on about Joe Hart's keeping.

Even now, with my Mum's Sky Go password and therefore SS at a whim, I hardly ever watch it. I can find better coverage for every single sport SS covers on a different channel.

EPL footy? La Liga footy? Boxing? F1?

EPL footy - I prefer BT Sport.

La Liga - the BBC live text coverage.

Boxing - wouldn't know, I didn't realise SS had boxing unless it's on Box office.

F1 - BBC. Martin Brundle, another example of someone who loves himself far more than his job.

Rugby - BT and BBC. Cricket, C5. Tennis, BBC. Golf, BBC. Darts, BBC (now that Sid Waddell is no longer with us).

There was a time that Sky Sports was the pinnacle of sports broadcasting. It's not any more.

Even you have to realise everyone has different tastes and BT and SS offer two very different options.

If you like rugby, tennis, baseball, ufc and german league, french league and italian league football along with europa league, fa cup, league cup and epl then go with BT.

If you like boxing (even though the best fights are on boxnation or PPV) and f1 and golf and spanish football along with epl then go with SS.

Just because you prefer spanish league over the german league doesn't mean everyone prefers spanish league.

La Liga has two matches a season I'd like to watch - the two El Clasicos - but apart from that, there is nothing of interest there. Who wants to see Messi score 4 past Levante? I'd rather watch quality Bundesliga, EPL or Serie A football.

Think people resent skys dominance and are looking for any reason to knock them. I realy cant understand how anybody can think david james and neil warnock as pundits with owen as commentator with the rubbish ref spouting stuff we can make our own judgement on with the scores at the bottom of the screen in play can be better than sky.

Again people dont like neville because of the player not the pundit. He talks a lot of sense and agree with tophat thats he's easily the best pundit doing british football

Watching Jamie Redknapp school Andy Gray during a Liverpool-United game was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on tele.

The only time I watch games on SS I watch the game only, not the analysis. Neville has an irritating voice, loves himself far too much, and goes too far to prove how great he is and how knowledgeable he thinks he is. Even Efan Ekoku could use the gadgets Neville has. It's not hard. The only reason he gets plaudits is because he's a former United stalwart. The media will never give him a hard time.

This is a guy who hated playing for England, who nearly had the England team on strike right before a major finals, and who somehow got the job of ass man to Roy Hodgson. But yeah, let's all praise the guy for pointing out poor defending. It's never been done before after all.

Neville is much better than Andy Gray.  And everyone I know agrees with me.  He has a much better knowledge of the game and how it is played today rather than Andy Gray or any of the other old fuddy duddy pundits on BBC and ITV etc.
Azzy seems to love to say how he thinks things/people are rubbish when they are popular in the mainstream.  I reckon he thinks it makes him seem cool.

I didn't like him as a footballer.

Also, I don't hate all things United. I liked Owen Hargreaves. The hot dog I had at Old Trafford in 2008 was pretty good too.

I massively disliked Neville as a player. As a pundit I love him. He's got to be Sky's biggest addition in a longtime. Hoddle, Redknapp, Wilkins, etc, etc. all bore me with their same old ways of not really saying anything at all and getting paid for it. Even Carragher is a step above the guys that have been there a while.

Neville is the best pundit on UK TV right now.

You give and take in debates Azzy.  You've given your opinions just as strongly as anyone else has.
