Re: Ashes second test, Lords, continued.
Only 418 runs to get and we know how good the Aussie tail is.
Yeah, perhaps not.
I just hope they can wrap it up so I don't miss it tomorrow at work.

How high would you rate Clarke as a Batsman then? Currently I think he is top ten all time for Aussies.. probably 4-8

About six me think... Bradman, Ponting, Waugh, Greg Chappel and Hayden above him?

Definitely one of the best I've seen since I started watching cricket in the early 90s. I think he at least makes the top 10 of the last 20 years.

Nah.
Might make an Aussie all-time third XI.

Hoggy - statistically you will be hard pressed to find 18 or so better batsmen than Clarke in Aus history... in fact you wont find ten.

True, but even his match play and BMT are hard to find... none of his double centuries came with the team any higher than 55/3.

Statistics aren't everything. Clarke has had a wonderful couple of years , but thre are a lot of great players who have worn the Baggy Green over the last 136 years.

Re: Ashes second test, Lords, continued.
The guys scored a ton in every series he has been captain with the exception of the WI tour. Thats impressive. Add to that his All time great 2012, maybe the greatest batting year ever, definitely close. and I dont think a top ten rating is unjustified. I dont think he scored one century coming in a 200/3, or even 130/3... Last 25 tests its been Clarke or bust.

Super player , true.
Will maybe assess him when he retires...not going to put a number on him tonight.
In fact I think it is bedtime for me...clean up these last two for me , eh , chaps ?
See you all at Old Trafford

Whatever happened to Phil Jacques? Thought he was pretty decent, would.certainly walk into this team. I hear he retired, but he is only 34..

Jimmy strikes to remove Siddle for a gritty 18. Australia 192-9.
England's lead now under 400. Cook will be getting as tad anxious!

Assuming you meant pay.
If theres less than 5 or 10 overs played you get a full refund, 20 or less half refund iirc.

I'm guessing if no more wickets fall today, Cook and Clarke would shake hands at stumps and agree on the win for England.
Would be crazy to come back tomorrow.

Weirdly there is no pressure on Aussie here now. Game is gone so they can just annoy eng and hang around. Eng wil be itching to end it.

200 up for Australia, with Pattinson making a very gutsy 21 - 3rd highest score of the innings so far.

Pattinson continues his audition for the soon to be vacant openers spot by facing the second new ball.

Pattinson a genuine all-rounder. I can see him getting to #8, probably actually #6 with this side though

Left it late but they got there.
Well done england.
One more win or draw and they retain the Ashes.

If Australia had a half-decent batting line-up, this would have been a pretty boring draw.

CJ - Maybe... By all accounts he is a far better batsman than KP was at 19. He needs to bat up higher in Shield, maybe come down to South Africa, moan, go to Hampshire... And come back in five years as a supernova talent

Please Sky Sports, get rid of Michael Holding. Pathetic commentator, seems to have held a grudge against England since Broad didn't walk.

Just a word of caution. Last time a British player won Wimbledon, in the Ashes that followed Australia came back from two down to win 3-2.
Of course, that Aussie team included the likes of Bradman, McCabe and O'Reilly, but still.

Holding is a brilliant commentator. I was listening to him today talk about this being the best English side he has seen since 1971 so he is hardly biased against them.
