It's the 25th of September, which means it's one hit wonder day.

There have been some cack, but along with a few decent songs. So, what's your favourite?

Tainted Love by Soft Cell and Eye of the Tiger by Survivor along with the already-mentioned 99 Red Balloons.

Soft Cell weren't one hit wonders, they had a number of songs and albums in the charts, just none as big as Tainted Love. Good song though!

Mike Flowers Pop's version of Wonderwall is brilliant.

The Buggles - Radio Killed The Radio Star

I noticed Dexy's Midnight Runners' Come On Eileen was on VH1's list but they had a hit with Geno.

Geno is a good song, better than Eileen. Plus, it was a number 1 hit. They also had that hit Jackie Wilson Said, the Van Morrison cover so I certainly wouldn't call them one hit wonders.

I remember Mad World being Christmas number 1, it kept that Christmas song by The Darkness off the top spot.

Don't put the peerless Dexy's in with the likes of Zager and Evans and bleeding Hale and Pace. Believe Can You Dig it was the only hit the mock turtles had, as far as one hit wonder songs go that was not a bad one

Someone mentioned Eye of the Tiger but Survivor also did Burning Heart from the Rocky IV soundtrack.

Not sure if it was a hit but plenty of people know it!

You're right Womble it is quality, was going to put the Crazy World of Arthur Brown forward with Fire as well but I also love that.

Fastball - The Way

I'd forgotten about it until recently reading the inspiration behind it, which makes it actually quite a meaningful song.

They had that song, An Honest Mistake, and everyone thought they could be the new Strokes. They weren't. Song's a good un though, still have it on spotify.

Semi shout out to Wheatus for Teenage Dirtbag too. I know they had moderate success covering A Little Respect, but I only count original pieces.

It was DJ Spiller from memory. Scooter are a different, suitably awful band. SCOOOOOOTTTTEEEERRRRRR!
