I think it is a grey ground Julius rather than black and white, so we may agree to disagree on this one Smile

You could be right. If only you'd stuck to sonoluminescence, it definitely would have merited a round of applause. As it is, I'm not sure my conscient will allow it.

You'd be surprised, I once rescued my cousin and her friend from a swarm of attacking bees after the friend had disturbed their hive.  I picked up my cousin and ran, assuming my brother would grab the friend, but then saw him bravely disappearing into the distance.  I had to drop my cousin and rush back into the swarm to collect the stupid f*****g kid who was crying and making sod-all attempt to get away.  Got stung all over.  With hindsight I should've just left the little c**t.

I saw your True Romance reference on the YS thread which reminded me of Slater and him wiping off 90 mins of my life. What is short cuts about other than flange?

It's a whole lot of sub-plots, sort of like a more complex Pulp Fiction without much violence.  Don't think it's really your cup of tea though there is one brilliant scene where a bunch of mates go fishing and find a dead woman, tie the corpse to a branch and carry on.  This was blatantly ripped off in Jindabyne.

Surprised Galted hasn't watched this footage of a hornet killing 30,000 bees and started knocking out a cheeky one ebfore ringing his brother to let him know there'll be an opportunity for a snifter later that day

Or alternatively there is a website called IMDB which will almost certainly answer this question, along with myriad other film based quandries.

Can I ask, is the film actually any good? Have not seen it but I almost feel a sense of obligation to, with how much it gets discussed on here.

To be honest, if there's an abundance of muff (ginger or otherwise) it's something of an irrelevance as to whether or not the film's any good.

Debra Kara Unger displays hers in "Cronenberg's "Crash" and that film's utter garbage (book is much better)

It's really good, Jeff. Not sure what it scores on the GSoE but I would easily give it a 7.5/10.

Never really got the attraction of sitting through a film because there are a few seconds of nudity in it, same as sad acts watching beach volley ball. If you want to see naked women just watch porn.

The muff scene, although incredibly long, is secondary to the film. It really is good, with or without the gratuitous minge shots.

That was on Il Gia's prompting as well.

I am in no doubt I do Tina but wading through 200 bands and artists in the slim hope I find one that I don’t find completely intolerable does not seem a useful or productive use of my time.

On the subject of music (almost) when is your music quiz coming back? I intend to take over Union's position at the bottom of the table, although rather than relying on hardcore artists nobody has heard of I will use obscure sixties artists nobody has heard of.

The film i spoke about got 4.3. Liked this review:

Worse than Laughable
Author: phantomias33 from United States
22 June 2012

This movie was horrible. Sean Bean is a good actor and there was some others in the movie that made my wife and I decide to give it a shot. It was REALLY bad. If the overall quality of the opening sequence wasn't enough to set the tone, the subsequent scene of Christian Slater playing cards should do the trick.

My only question is: surely actors have to know during the filming that this is a really, really poor movie, right? How could you not.

I'd be more comprehensive but this movie doesn't deserve any more of my time to be spent on it. Stay away. It's not even so bad that it's funny....it's worse than that.

Soldiers of fortune. Here's a critics review:

SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE (2012)

Maxim Korostyshevsky’s “Soldiers of Fortune” has a pretty cool premise, which makes the fact that it’s such a bad movie rather disappointing. It goes a little something like this: rich tycoons pay for the privilege of fighting in a real war, albeit with ex-Special Forces operators like Christian Slater as their personal bodyguards. The whole thing is the brainchild of siblings trying to fund a rebellion on their small island nation, which is currently in the iron grips of a two-bit warlord and his ex-CIA right-hand man played by Colm Meaney, doing what Colm Meaney does best in movies like this, which is play the officious douche. Slater’s character is an ex-Army Captain booted out of the service when he disregards the orders of — you guessed it — a certain CIA douche. The two enemies meet up again when Slater leads the rich guys onto the island, where all manner of Tomfoolery, poorly shot action, and established actors like James Cromwell, Ving Rhames, Sean Bean, and yes, even Dominic Monaghan (of “Lord of the Rings” fame) attempt in vain to save this clunker.

The biggest mystery about “Soldiers of Fortune” isn’t how badly the whole thing is executed (in fact, the film’s highlight has to be its “sales pitch” introduction that you can see in the trailer below), but how the producers roped guys like Rhames, Cromwell, Bean, and Slater into doing this thing. Okay, so maybe getting Slater isn’t so hard nowadays. And Rhames, well, as the dreadful “Seven Below” proves, Rhames is up for a lot of questionable roles, with his saving grace being that he has managed to sprinkle some Hollywood stuff like “Piranha 3DD” into what is becoming a stunningly prolific direct-to-DVD career. In fact, the only reason why I could justify Cromwell, Bean, and company signing on for this is for the free vacation in a tropical locale. I’m guessing they shot this thing on some nice, sunny island. Hey, when you gotta get away…

If you were at least hoping for some respectable action in “Soldiers of Fortune”, I’m sorry to disappoint you, there’s none to be found here. The action, from first-time director Maxim Korostyshevsky, is cringe-worthy throughout, with some stunningly incompetent gunplay on display. There’s a raid on the rebel camp that is laughably bad, so poorly staged that you can’t possibly believe this is a professional production. God bless him, Christian Slater actually looks like he’s really trying, and so do most of the guys for that matter. It’s not really their fault that they’re surrounded by rank amateurs in front and behind the camera. On the plus side, you do get a pretty ludicrous jet ski battle between two women that drags on and on for no apparent reason.

It was Jaws and I think it was a house. I have an appalling film taste (Signs and Independence Day Top 10) but this was something else. The only positive was that I thought Marcellus Wallace was the same guy as the bloke in Armageddon and the Green Mile. Not apparently.

Suspect when it is down to me to cheer the mood up we really are screwed but I am generally in a good mood today. Out for a meal tonight with TSMR so hopefully my general anticipation and good mood can lift things round here.

Where are you going, Jeff? Glad you're in a happy place.

I went out for dinner last night. Considering the massive hangover I currently have, I am also in a surprisingly chipper mood.

That is the second time you have been all over the Spandeau Ballet references Julius, it is a worry.
