The Culture Cup Round 6 - new but not really improved
First topic message reminder :
As the old thread is reaching its max again, I thought I would set up a whole new 20 spare pages for you all to talk about things neither cultural or Cup based.
Not that it makes a difference.
All anthropod, cortex and mild stereotyping of northerners welcome in here.
Just don't ask about the 2014 cup competition though.

Always wondered about that because people still do it apparently. Couldn't think of anything worse.

Ah yes, she's almost due - forgot about that. Must remember to organise the DNA test.

If it's first words are "pass me my pipe, dear boy", there is no need for a test, Jules.

It is supposed to get things moving apparently.
But it doesn't do it for me, seany. I would be too worried I was poking it in the face.

Re: The Culture Cup Round 6 - new but not really improved
Carrot, butternut and spice soup (with a small baguette for dipping) from Pret
Taste 3/5 – was ok, indistinct but fairly pleasant.
What michaels's missus would have said, " votre mère était un hamster et votre père avait une odeur de baies de sureau"
Health 4/5 – full of healthy ingredients, loses a point for the crispy, white baguette which, while necessary to fully maximise the enjoyment potential of the soup, is not particularly healthy in its own right
Onions 4/5 – don't think there were any (in fact, I'm quite sure there weren't any)
Cost 3/5 (£3.75) – a bit expensive but it does come with a free, plastic spoon. No butter this time which was handy from the health aspect but adversely affected the taste and meant I couldn't take one of the plastic knives on offer (I supposed that I could but would I have been able to look myself in the mirror afterwards? I think not)
Overall 7/10
Wasn't too impressed that the Pret interior has been redesigned. Apart from the fact that change annoys me the space provided for the customers is far less than before which means that, during crowded periods, there may be some bumping. Another disappointment is that I was offered a bag rather than the pot being placed into one without need for conversation. I said "no, thanks, mate" as I was a bit flustered on account of the interior changes when I really meant "obviously I want one you thick c*nt". My mood was lifted when one of the happy Pret girls lifted a bag dripping water out of a metal container and it spilt onto the electrician who was p1ssing about underneath. Would have been funny in its own right but, as it turns out, the water was boiling.

Bit tedious here today. I might go and create a thread on the rugby board entitled 'Why are the welsh so sheeeet'.
Apologies Galted, It was tedious until another fine review.

Apologies if I've caused offence, TopHat, but I start working at 7am and 11am for me is the equivalent of 1pm for people who have proper jobs.
I'm still upset about michaels and his missus slagging off Wrap-It-Up yesterday and thinking I didn't know how to read through past posts that I may sneak a burrito in later and just not mention it.

I take it for granted that the Crinkly Old Bag will contain a bit of butter but, on this occasion, it didn't. They're all f*cking foreign in Pret which probably explains it. Even the name is foreign.

They use only animated animals from children's stories, brutally slaughtered in front of audiences of 3-7 year-olds.

If I had a written list of ingredients or had enquired of the most knowledgable person in the establishment and had confirmation that there were, in fact, no onions as onions are the b*stard downie child of the plant family.

A topic which has resulted in quite a few accusations of covert racism in the Pret hiring policy.
Coupled with arrogant lazy Brits only wanting to work the cushy 10am-4pm Saturday shift, means you'll almost never find a Brit working at a Pret.

Don't really fancy queueing and having to breath in other people's farts and coughs. Plus it really f*cks with my colleagues' appetites and often throws their eating patterns out of kilter.

I just think Galted could be selling his affections short with Wrap-it-up. Appearances aside, their menu is a jack of all trades master of none type menu. You can't sell jerk and mexican from the same joint.

a) I have commented solely on the Chicken Burrito.
b) what the f*ck are you using a word such as "joint" in that context for? This is an internet forum not a film noir.

Sounds like what might mate does for Citi at CW. He has a stupidly early start too, though leaves at 6pm most days at least.

I'm a bit more fortunate than that, finish 3-3.30 so avoid any form of rush hour.

Nice, sounds like he gets beasted! Think he leaves home (Finsbury Park) at about 6.30am and cycles to CW, so maybe it's a 7.30am start. Meant to finish at 5.30pm but always a bit of overhang I think - everything he does is linked to the trading floor so he basically has to work their hours but without the pay!

Calm your skin.
It makes perfect sense that a burrito would be better from a solely mexican 'establishment' as opposed to one that sells caribbean, mexican, turkish etc.....

Did you know Sam Warburton and Alex Cuthbert were 100% English?

a) I have commented solely on the Chicken Burrito.
b) what the f*ck are you using a word such as "joint" in that context for? This is an internet forum not a film noir.
Calm your skin.
It makes perfect sense that a burrito would be better from a solely mexican 'establishment' as opposed to one that sells caribbean, mexican, turkish etc.....
I disagree, michaels. It may be more authentic but that doesn't mean it's better. I went to Wahaca on Sunday and they seem to find it necessary to put onions in just about everything apart from the peppermint tea. I'm sure people with moustaches and sombreros would regard it as edible but I wasn't too impressed.
Talking about calming your skin - one of my colleagues is just throwing a tantrum a two-year-old would be ashamed to throw. It all started because someone turned the milk dispenser off and he's going apeshit, now he's on about some cages of computers left in the walkway. He's shrieking so much his voice is vibrating, he's kicking doors and walls and smashing cabinets. It's funny as f*ck and I might possibly swallow my tongue trying not to laugh.

Yeah, I knew that. I worry about those two on Sunday. That and the front row are areas of concern.

You need to get over the fear of onions. They are one of the foundations of all good food.
Ask the chap in your office to 'take a chill pill' and see what his reaction is.

Play the cheeky girls song loud to annoy him further. Then ask him where his dad lives...

I hope so. I gave up a ticket for it because of Mrs Windows condition.

Women just don't think about our needs. I'll be making an hours round trip, plus an hours waiting time tonight for her which means it'll probably be 7 before I have my first beer. Crackers for a friday.

I was forced to eat fried onions mixed up with mushrooms and grated potato last week, was actually quite good. Was hard to refuse as it was at a house and I was one of not very many guests. It's some traditional Russian dish and I was able to ask for seconds without risking throwing up which seems to impress Russian ladies.
