Post by Hero Wed 02 Apr 2014, 2:24 pm

First topic message reminder :

I'm going to put together a Music GOAT/World Cup in the coming weeks dependent upon interest on it.
Every day 4/5 random acts will be drawn together with the top two going through to the next round, eventually it will be whittled down to a final and the winner decided by you the v2 collective.

Madness should be on there due to the amount of time spent in the charts

You're probably right and I hope they get in so I can vent my spleen about how terrible they are when they are up for discussion. They are the band I hate more than any other.

I went to the Superleague Grand Final a few years back at Old Trafford and they were the pre-match 'entertainment'. I nearly left before the game had even started.

Crikey Tino, any specific reason? Or just general dislike of their music?

I quite like them myself and enjoyed watching them live, in Delamere forest no less...

Where to start... The stupid lyrics, baggy trousers, the moronic dancing, Suggs and his stupid ugly face, Suggs and his stupid ugly face wearing sunglasses all the time. Indoors no less. People in the office singing the stupid lyrics. It's pretty much endless.

On a positive note, Delamere forest is one of my favourite places on the planet. I've seen a few bands there in the past. Who knows, you and I may well have been sitting on the hill together Ricko. I always make a point of going for a walk round the Delamere lake when I go back home. Beautiful place.

I take your note on Madness!!

And yep, I heartily concur on Delamere, used to go chesnut collecting with the old man back in the day, happy memories indeed and always a pleasant place to spend time.

Also, nowadays they have off road segways and a Go Ape, which is always good fun and blend in to the scenery beautifully, I have seen a couple of bands there myself (Jools Holland being a highlight) so we may well have occupied space together! Small world Tino.

My favourite place is Bourne Woods where the start of Gladiator was filmed. Just need a dog to walk there otherwise I look a bit shifty.

If Shah gets wind of this he will be over here with a cottaging insult before you can say "George Michaels"

Well what a small world, I saw Jools Holland there as well.

I have been chestnut collecting there a few times as a lad. Cut it fine a few times and started to walk back in the dark. Scary stuff when you're not exactly sure what part of the forest you're in. I have seen the Go Ape. I might send the kids up there next time we are oop North. I like the little cafe near the visitors centre. They do the best bacon and brie baguette I have ever eaten.

Nice little train station too and the Abbey arms just up the road does not a bad pint too!

Happy memories indeed Tino, you should schedule some time in the autumn and take the sproglets a foraging.

Anyhoo, we are at risk of derailing Hero's thread, so back on topic.

I think jools holland should be on there also thinking about it, he has done a lot of stuff, both with his band and collaborations...

I went to Delamere last year to see the Charlatans. My initial cynicism over the tournament was misplaced, it is already bringing us together.

He can be in the follow up bonus round for musicians/pop stars you'd be least likely to get bored of hitting.

I fell of a log into the lake at Delamere once. My idiotic brother threw my bag into the edge of the water for no particular reason.

I tried to shimmy across a fallen log to get closer and slipped on some wet moss. Landed up to my knees in water. Had to walk the rest of the way round the forest with wet trainers.

That has infinitely brightened up my day.

That says more about your failings as a person than anything else.

I got him back though.  I told his mates he had put pedigree chum on his knob and got our dog to lick it off.  He was known as chum after that.

Unfortunately, I had a bit of an l-o-l at that at the same time as the angry Kiwi was having a minor rant about the smug Pole we work with.  I don't think he's too impressed.

Do you want me to get the angry Kiwi kicked out of the country Galted? He does seem to bother you quite a lot, could be my one act of kindness for the year. Not sure I can really do it, but am more than happy to try.

Just for a wander or did you offroad on segways and go to Go Ape?

We went on one of the coloured walks but went a little offroad at times and we spent about an hour building a den.

I'm currently at 212 artists. Unless anyone puts any new artists forward before the weekend then that's the list I'm going with and it'll commence on Monday.
