I find that most people say that once they get beyond 30, because most did not have the worries and problems then as opposed to adulthood.
So for me YES

I liked high school. Prefect, first team rugby, cricket and tennis captain, athletics. I was in amongst the birds year round. Much prefer now though. Own car, an ever improving bachelor pad (got a Pacman game arcade game a month back), and pretty much free sex during student nights. I'd be lying if I said high school matches up.

Quite right Doody. Spent my first 18 months out of school high as a kite, haven't had a Jay in a while though.
Relationships are also much easier out of school. More workable when you don't have to see someone everyday of your life from 7.30 till 14.00. I assume that also gives you time to come up with more pertinent matters of discussion than rimming.

NO! Primary school was fine, but not secondary. Hated the place. From 20 to about 25 was even worse (who am I?). Loved being 30 and single. Young enough to be sort of cool, but with the experience. Now early forties, and have a family. These are the best days of my life, and not school.

Moving from the Isle of Wight to London as a nipper was a massive culture shock. I started my school career in a small and very secure environment where on day one, I already knew everybody. I thought school was brilliant at that time.
Then everything became uprooted and I found myself going to a hell hole in South London where I was beaten up by three (brave) kids on my first day for no other reason than that I "talked funny" (south coast accent). It wasn't the best start.
Corporal punishment still existed back then and my fingertips smarted more than once from the lash of the cane across them. When a teacher said this would hurt him more than it hurt me, he lied.
I left school at the age of 14 (leaving age was 15 back then, and my final term ended shortly before my 15th birthday) with no qualifications and only one ambition. To get the hell out of London and never come back. I succeeded and regret that decision not one jot.
But it wasn't all bad. It had its good times and hey... I'm still in one piece, I've prospered reasonably well, raised a family and have lived a life I'm content with. I must have learned something.
Best days of your life..? No. Valuable lessons learned..? Yeah, I'd say so.

best days of my life were probably my uni days a few years ago. Met so many people and went out like every day of the week in my 1st year. Was a fun time

God no. Grew up in a small arket town, school was boring as. Best days were in the mid 90s. Just turned 21, britpop, hot summers, euro 96 etc. Had a great social circle and the ship I was on in the Royal Navy was in refit so plenty of shore time. Great days...

Primary school was brilliant but for some unknown reason I went to a high school 10 miles away and I was always knackered, plus it meant most of my mates lived miles away too and I spent a quarter of the day on buses to school.

Think this expression extend into uni now.
Best times are pre working full time when you had the time to do what ever you wanted.

Depends on your childhood...Have pleasant memories of hanging out with my brother....Boxing and lifting weights but other bad stuff I had no control over...
Much happier now than I've ever been...In control of my destiny..A pretty solid family unit behind me and a pretty good standard of living..
I also have a policy of not looking back but forward and hopefully when I go there won't be reincarnation as I can't be ar**d doing it all again..

Dinner, movies, those things are expensive. Pretty much just have to show up to a student night. and I'm in there.

I spent most of my school days wishing for the final bell so I could enjoy doing the things I enjoyed doing....Gym, socialising or watching TV.....
Never found doing Math and other subjects that thrilling to be honest.....Enjoyed playing sports though...
Think what tends to happen is instead of being sensible and staying single, sleeping around and visiting the World and generally being carefree !!
You end up getting married, having a family and stuck in a job you don't like.....With all the pressures that go with it...
We also tend to remember the good times about our school days and not the bad....
A sage once siad "The past is better because it isn't now !!" and I think they are wise words....
Would I want to do it all again.....Not really.

I was only bullied twice at school...once for four years and once for three years. Hated it with a passion.
Women say they like athletic, intelligent men yet at school, being in the top sets for all my lessons and being on half a dozen sports teams just got me sucker punched pretty much every day...certainly in Middle school (age 9-12)
Upper School was a bit better but there were some real council estate dregs there whose sole aim was to f*ck up the lives of everyone they encountered from the moment they woke up til the time they went to sleep. I grew up on the same estate so school time was cr*p and then the walk home was another tortuous exercise and then playing in the street was also fraught with danger.
Thankfully the local Library was like Kryptonite to these idiots.
However, there were some good times....Playing in the cricket finals, being first choice goalkeeper and being voted MOTM on a number of occasions and of course, there was Helen Hamilton, Catherine Garside were the loves of my life and of course Mrs Phethean my teacher who was every teenage boys wet dream...Blonde hair, big t!ts and a total disregard for fastening her blouses up properly.
All that aside, school sucked, I was good at it but hated the majority of the people.

I developed a penchant for cross country running....the bullies tended to get bored after a while running around the playground trying to hit me and soon discovered a new more stationary target.

The conversation I had at work about this was that people say its the best days of your life, but it is only that case if you dont go on to better things. There are those who enjoy it too much, disregard the school part and then life kicks them in the nuts later down the line when they dont conform to working life cos they're used to getting their own way and not doing much.

Don't think there is a one size that fits all.........But I'm sure it's true in a lot of cases..
Think the happiest people are those that close the door on the past and live in the present.....
Some scribe wrote "The past is a foreign field never to be visited again" and it's a good line.....
My Father's favorite line was.......... "We are where we are"...........
I'm content now but I'm not happy...........I'm not deluded enough though to think I felt any different back then !!!...

Yeah, amazing. Stuck in a dormitory with your best mates. Then you get your own room when your older and get to pour milk all over the radiator in the weirdos room. Brilliant. Miss those times a lot.

Re: they say your school days were the best days of your life , would you agree?
Well in the early years I hated school. I came to hate it more when I was shifted out to boarding school by my parents! I know the parents at school cheered as did my neighbours as I was a little c**t back then. Boarding School absolutely straightened me out. Aside from singing happy f**king jesus songs, it was a life changing experience. I even picked up sign language which in time I used to annoy others including my parents!
Secondary school was ok. I did well in my studies. Had a close knit bunch of friends and even had the joy of decking a few bullies who were silly enough (with my big frame at the time) to try and pick a fight with me. When I started playing park football with the adults when I was 15 I remember telling my goalkeeper I couldn't wait to leave as I thought it would be football, pi$$ ups, takeaways and girls! He soon told me he wished he was back at school and told me not to wish them away. With that advice I made it my ambition to enjoy my last year and I did. So many great memories. The teachers helped too making it a great last year for us.
I certainly miss the school holidays. The summer ones especially. The only thing I don't miss is walking to and fro from school in pi$$ing hard rain!

The only times I enjoyed the rain was on match days during my football days. Least it meant you could actually tackle!
I actually prefer the cold. The main reason I hated the rain was that the main road I used to get to school and home again would get flooded and there would be puddles and surface water galore. Couple that with ar$ehole drivers......

Aah, getting caught in the rain. Things I don't miss. Can't even try to forget those summer days where I'd be walking home from cricket practise wearing a V-neck crew shirt, in a glorious highveldt summer's day, and then suddenly, quite literally from nowhere, the clouds would gather and five minutes later I was soaked beyond comprehension. It then continued being a glorious Highveldt summer's day.

Never feels it at the time, but retrospectively your life a few years earlier always seems more straightforward, less stresfull and pressured etc.

Liked school a lot. Was smart so always enjoyed the 'school' element to it, and whilst never 'the cool kid' I was pretty easy going and not socially awkward so, apart from some minor bullying now and again, generally liked the 'non-school' element of it also.

Overall, I'd have to say no.
Did moderately well in most subjects...excelled in English and Chemistry. Quite enjoyed sports too, though I was average at best.
Was the quiet type, didn't make friends easily and got bullied a fair bit. Home life was also pretty crap at the time.
So for me the best times were when I got a job and a place of my own, allowing me to do pretty much what I wanted, when I wanted.
