I pretty much gave up drinking once the after-effects started outweighing the benefits. Quite like a poncey southern cocktail if I'm at an American-style restaurant though.

I have the gene to really go overboard with it - as I did last year when my Lions mates came over for a week or so of what I thought was binge drinking. It turned out to be their normal everyday behaviour. They nearly killed me. (or I nearly killed myself) No way I could compete with that.
I hadn't drunk as much since 1989-90... when I was living in the UK funnily enough.
