"We"?? I'm surprised you associate yourself to an organisation that has squandered over £135 this summer, whilst there are homeless people on the streets and starving children in the world!! They could have spent £135m on those things and left the squad alone, finishing top half would still be ok wouldn't it? Especially if so many peoples lives were improved by redirecting transfer monies to charity.

Can't stand Whisky either. Japanese whisky has been good for years, the Welsh whisky is good by all accounts and even the Swedish and English are making it now.

Non-existent more like it.

Joe Kernan usually quite savvy, but obviously follows golf (he seems to get himself into Tour Pro-Ams) more than he follows Europe. What a disgrace!

A few years ago Kwini, there was some idiot in the House of Representatives who tried to use the bible as a reason for why Climate Change wouldn't happen.

I cannot believe he wasn't carried out by the people in white coats.

"Liberal" is just a republican slur on democrats, trying to associate all dems with s_r's noodle-knitting tree-huggers, same sex couples, etc, etc.
Most democrats in Congress are to the right of many "conservatives" in European Parliaments.

Peter Shilton is skint as well apparently Super. He appeared at Colchester Magistrates Court at the back end of last year on a drink driving charge, got fined £1200 couldn't afford to pay and pleaded poverty. Also a fairly recent divorcee, that and an alleged nasty little gambling habit appears to have taken care of his wealth.

Shilton played at a time when although he was probably paid well compared to a road sweeper or Mac, he probably wasn't even paid as well as a league two player is today.

Seems a bit odd that if he couldn't afford to pay the fine (and was presumably about to be banned from driving) that he couldn't sell the car to pay the fine after all, he wouldn't be needing it.

Teacher refused job

At the risk of the usual claptrap irish "debate" (apologies if that does ensue...) I thought this was mildly interesting. Certainly presents an opportunity for indignance!

Anyone ever been turned down for a job in this manner or any other ridiculous "reason"?

Alternatives:

Dear Mr Scottish person, thank you for your application but we are unable to employ Scots as there is a history of men wearing skirts.

Dear Mrs American person, your application has been rejected because American citizens are prone to overt displays of patriotic pride.

Dear Mr English, you are English, I'm sure we don't need to expand on this as your history of being reserved will mean you'll just accept this rejection quietly and merely harbour smouldering resentment without taking any further action.

That's hilarious roller. Of all the Irish stereotypes, the Irish alcoholic stereotype is the only one that is actually true to reality. According to a 2012 poll something like 60% of us have an alcohol problem. This isn't helped by the fact that most of us are given whiskey as babies.

What the fcuk are you talking about now? I can only assume that was a bad attempt at a joke but it fell far too short of the mark for any definition of humour I know of.

If you wanted to make light of it you could have at least commented on the fact that penguins are natives of Antarctica and therefore likely illegal immigrant and not wanted in this country

Is football racist? Or is there just a lack of genuine talent in terms of football management amongst ethnic minorities.

Do you think campaigns should be started for Caucasian reggae artists to be signed to Jamican record labels. Should there also be a campaign to get whites on to the Ethiopian distance running team?

It is peculiar Incon but the way the Beeb reported it this morning was from a totally PC angle. Never did they consider that that type of job just might not be the forte of certain ethnic groups. It was also being pushed by the beeb that it was a British failing , like we were the only country allegedly "guilty" of blatant racism.

Just out of interest...who is the most successful black manager of all time?

Ironically it looks like Henrik Larsson's doing just fine in Sweden.
But perhaps he's been prepared to work his way up, and has been very content to further his career rather than just his salary.

No idea what the answer is but surely you'd expect there to be a generational gap? And that is probably being worked through now.

Chris Powell's doing OK by the looks of things, but Paul Ince seemed to wear out his welcome in about a fortnight wherever he went - he always looked totally disengaged on the sideline and terrible in interviews. Great shame that Keith Alexander died as early as he did.

Rather than pound chests in faux outrage, would think it would behoove people to examine who exactly is not getting jobs they appear to be qualified for, and why. Suspect it's a lot fewer than the stats would suggest.

Yes, quite Kwini.

Can't really blame the managerial careers of John Barnes and Paul Ince on racism, even though they sadly experienced plenty of it during their playing careers.

Gullit and Rikjaard both had a go and seemed alright. Davids less so but admire his desire to try and make it work at Barnet, Kluivert getting into it now too. Bet Seedorf would make a good manager. Maybe wannabe managers in the UK need to head over to Holland to get ahead?
