It was a game of haves and have nots. If you picked Bubba Watson you got quite a few points. If you picked Dustin Johnson you got a lot of points. If you picked both of them you got a shed load of points. If your name is Davie you got next to no points. Seven Fantasy Leaguers picked the double of Watson and Johnson and even though BlueCoverman did just that he couldn't close the gap on RedRage who had four of the top 7 players. Red wins at a canter. McLaren sneaked up the outside to take third with CJB and SirBenson. 1grumpyGolfer, who had Watson on his bench, shared sixth with Boyhyde and Pedro who did pick Watson. Kwinigolfer also had them both and he overtook halfway leader LadyPutt. Raycastleunited and Sand were the other two to pick Johnson.
The best of the rest was Hibbz with four picks scoring points. Barragan had three picks but not enough quality. I'm Never Wrong and Super_Realist had two picks score points. Everyone else had one pick score points.
Beninho had Marcel Siem who shot the low round of the day with a 67. Super_Realist had Victor Dubussion who eventually finished with an 85. No one picked Hiroyuki Fujita who finished at +27.

The first WGC event of 2015 sees the majority of the best players in the world, no offence Steven Jeffress, head a few miles from Palm Beach to Doral. Last year the reworked Blue Monster lived up to it's name with plenty of balls disappearing into the blue(?) lakes. The course owner seemed to like it but, many seemed to think that WGCs were supposed to identify the best players in the world and not embarrass them.
Patrick Reed is the defending champion and promptly pronounced himself among the top five players in the world. Close but no cigar Patrick, you're not even in Category A at the moment, just ten other top players separate you from that lofty status. The top 51 players in the world are in attendance and just nine of the field are outside of the top 100. Looking in Category C you might notice that one of these is not like the others; Steven Jeffress is the lowest ranked player at 524.
Due to the limited field size the number of picks is scaled back to two from each category plus reserve. This is also a no cut event so the usual cut bonuses are not in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

doesn't having only 2 picks nullify the fact this is a weighted 2 comp, esp if there are no cut bonuses?!

Two picks is the right move, will it be the same for the Masters?

SirB - For fields of 100 or less it's two picks, over that it's three picks so for the Masters it will be two picks

I am picking the two players in Cat A that haven't been picked yet so as not to spoil your chances.
If you choose my players after me, so be it on your head for mid to lower table results.
Kaymer, Fowler (Res Garcia)
Reed Haas (Res McDowell)
Casey Todd (Res Siem)
Thanks Grumps. Good job.

Thanks for keeping on top of this for me Super.
If CJB doesn't update my thinking is the first two would be his picks and number three becomes the reserve but that's for the good lady judge to decide on

CJB, it's just two picks this week. Can you select your two picks and reserve from your choices. If not I will take the first two and make the third the reserve.
Thanks, Grumps

LP, does this seem fair for CJB?
First tee times 11am Eastern. 4pm in the UK. Lots of time to make picks or corrections.

Confusion reigns 3 picks, 2 picks. Better to keep it at 3 all the way, more points, more fun, more chance of a pick scoring some points.

Due to the limited field size the number of picks is scaled back to two from each category plus reserve. This is also a no cut event so the usual cut bonuses are not in effect.

LadyPutt jumps out into an early lead courtesy of Levy and Dustin Johnson.
DJ was chosen by 11 other Fantasy Leaguers. Rickie Fowler was chosen by two other Fantasy Leaguers.
If you didn't pick Fowler or DJ then you didn't score any points.

On a day of what seemed to be tough scoring for some of the best players in the world J.B. Holmes made it look easy. His bogey free round of 62 was the best by four shots and beat the field average, or whatever Robopz and GPB calculated, by some 11 shots. 68 was enough to get you into the Top 5 Low Round scores and three picks did shoot 68. LadyPutt had two of them in Alexander Levy and the very popular Dustin Johnson. Everyone else who scored had Johnson except for Hibbz and I'M Never Wrong who had Rickie Fowler instead, he was the other player to shoot 68. Stephen Gallacher had a day to forget with an 84.

As is often the case in these limited field, no cut events, points scoring opportunities are at a premium. Adam Scott shot the round of the day with a 68 and that got Beninho and EmmDee57 off of the mark. It was Hiroyuki Fujita's turn to have a bad day at the office; his round of 83 was the worst of the day.

Adam Scott -4
1. Beninho

The Top 10 Low Round scores were 70 or lower and 16 players managed that. 13 of them were picks so points are not at a premium today. If it was tough to score points in round 2 it was easy to score points in round 3; just ask RedRage! He had 4 of his picks shoot 70 or lower and he jumps to the top of the leaderboard. 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, CJB, and SirBenson all had 3 picks score and they share second place. Boyhyde, Hibbz, Incontinentia, Kwinigolfer, McLaren, Pedro, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, and TheCleaver each had two of their picks score points. Barragan, Beninho, I'm Never Wrong, Kouchi, LadyPutt, Sand, and Super_Realist all had one of their picks score points. I'm Never Wrong's pick, Bill Haas, was a good one as he shot 65 for low round of the day. LadyPutt had Alexander Levy score points for the wrong reasons in round 3, his round of 79 was the worst of the day.
