A tad greedy perhaps but I would have liked 2 down at lunch. Going to be hard work with Fletch laid up in the prison hospital!

Fair play to NS for having a bat then

99/3. Still tight.
Couple of wickets for Clive - he generally goes for a few but is also normally threatening, such a shame he hasn't got Trem or Fletch tying up the other end. The other wicket going to Olly's man, Ansari, courtesy of another catch from Roy.

Wow - 3 wickets now for Ansari. (Includes Det Insp Stevens - who had earlier detained Norman Stanley. )

Brilliant! Two more for Ansari courtesy of a Harold stumping and yet another Roy catch!

Afternoon Jimbob.
Kent all out for 204, with Clive and Norah taking 3 wickets each and #ansariforengland 4. Sounds like a good effort from our bowlers. May not be an easy total to chase down but there should be a positive result either way....

Afternoon JimBob. Yes, not easy for us but I expect Kent to be more worried facing the likes of Sanga, Davies and Roy.

Earlier today Surrey tweeted that our score of 292 was the highest ever made by Surrey in which no batsmen reached 50. The previous highest was 275 we made against Derby in 1934.

Would anyone seriously NOT have settled for this as the close of Day 3 game situation when Kent won the toss and batted on Day 1? The conditions may be tricky for batting but if we have serious intentions to be promoted, this is just the kind of position we need to close out.

Re: SURREY VS KENT LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
I wasn't able to listen the commentary but it seems we showed some attacking intent in those 11 overs at the end. I like that. Obviously, a shame we lost Ansari* but good we went at a fair lick and are already nearly a quarter of the way there. If we had to lose a wicket, far better to have 44 on the board off 11 overs as now rather than, say, being 18/1 which might still have been the case if we had just tried to defend.
I don't agree it'll be a doddle. Olly can be excused as (1) he's still high on Norwich's promotion; (2) he's young; and, most of all, (3) he's new to the false hope Surrey can supply. However, I do agree with Simon's implied suggestion that we would have bitten Rob Key's arm off at 11 o'clock on the first morning to be in this position now - and probably his buttocks as well at 12 noon once Norman Stanley was in the sick bay!
Great effort by our bowlers to get us in this position. Geeky point again but not a single no ball or wide bowled by us in the two Kent innings - that could be so valuable in a low scoring game.
Stevens remains the danger man - he has tremendous form against Surrey and with 5 wickets so far in this match it seems he's still got it. However, imo it's now our's to win or lose ....
*JimBob - there's a members forum meeting on Monday at the Oval before play starts against Lancs. I'll try to put your point about Sibley opening to Stewie.

Re: SURREY VS KENT LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Excellent performance by Surrey today - exactly the kind that we have missed most of the time in recent years.
None of our batsmen scored a half century in the first innings, and the second highest scorer in Kent second innings got 29, so it really does look like a pitch where every run counts.
The point made about Ansari is well worth raising. He bowled 21 overs today and then had to come straight back out to open the innings. That's quite a challenging assignment.

Sanga goes LBW 75 - 3 Meanwhile Clive hanging on with plenty of playing and missing. As Church pointed out, Clive has played on all four days of the match.

100 - 4 Good opportunity for Sibley to dig in while runs (hopefully) scored at the other end.

Hopefully not a jinx. Sibley has a good temperament and shouldn't panic. This could be a valuable innings for him as well as us ....

141- 5 at lunch. Le Roi has had a few narrow escapes while Davies has been more assured. Surrey still favourites, but that would change rapidly with a couple of quick wickets after lunch.

I'm reluctant to say anything else although I do think our ''It'll be a doddle'' newcomer has got off lightly.
Expect Stevens to be back on straight after lunch. Heard Churchy say he's taken 35 CC wickets against Surrey .... that's a heck of a lot! We don't want it increasing today!
Edit: meant to say I agree we are still favourites but less so than at 11 o'clock this morning. Oh and putting Stevens' success against Surrey into some sort of context, he currently has 288 fc wickets - I'll let you do the sums but clearly far more than a fair share are against us!

Think Kent missed a trick not giving the ball to Stevens straight after lunch - 15 off the first 2 overs, lovely stuff!
