US PGA Competition - Final Leaderboard

Nine entered the final day in a share of the lead but only one could win and it went right down to the wire. Of those nine eight had Day, Spieth and Rose and one had Day, Spieth and Grace. Branden Grace's birdie on the 17th meant that all nine where still tied as Rose and Grace went to the 18th. Rose's bogey on the last hole saw eight drop a shot back to 51 under leaving  Bob_the_Job on his own at the top of the leaderboard being the only person to have selected he top three at Whistling Straits in his picks. Bob_the_job goes one better than last year where he lost in a three-way playoff.

So congratulations to Bob_the_Job on winning the US PGA Competition

Fantastic to finally get the W and even better a major W. I've been telling you guys this was just around the corner and it fully vindicates my new release pattern and all those reps - really allowed me to warm up my glutes and control my traj.

I thank you all - especially Branden Grace, although I'm still awaiting my congratulation tweet from @McIlroyRory.

(If only I'd put some money on at the bookies. )

I'm far from an expert, but my other "outsider coming up on the rails" pick was Wiesberger - still think he can kick on even though he missed the cut. It was a coin toss between him, Cameron Smith and Justin Thomas. Think/thought the latter suffers from too much impatience and pressure trying to emulate his best mate Jordan, and Smith needs a year of higher profile events before he hits his straps, hence Weisberger - and he only missed the cut by 1.

A few of us picked Grace in the other game.... I didn't pick him here due to his perfomance in the Open.
I said a few years back that he and Sterne could be the next big thing from Saf. They've had careers similar to Goosen and Immelman, establising their name via the ET before a major breakthrough. (What happened to Sterne btw?)

Well done Bob. Thought I was making strides after my top 10 at the Open but now I see I just flattered to deceive - back to mediocrity!

That Graceful teeshot on 17 indeed being the highlight of the final round. And the one that finally made the difference. However, too bad of that missed one foot putt for eagle by Rose on the 11th on Saturday.
