What a man manager Davie is or either he's a lucky bar steward. Six of Davie's seven picks scored points as he handed out a hiding to the rest of the Fantasy League.  No need for a Jose style rant or deluded Brendan analysis from McLaren or EmmDee57 who both had four picks score points as they tried to hold onto Davie's coattails.  LadyPutt and Pedro also had four picks score points.  Beninho, BlueCoverman, Kwinigolfer, Owen10ozzy, and SirBenson all had three picks score points.  1GrumpyGolfer, Eyetoldyouso, Raycastleunited, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver all had two picks score points.  AlciG, I'm Never Wrong, MustPuttBetter, Sand, and SetupDetermines had just the one pick score points.

Chris Wood shot 65 for the low round of the day; EmmDee57 and Kwinigolfer picked up more points for this.  Danie van Tonder had a bad day, he finished with a 78 which dropped him into last place.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is played over many courses with the cut taking place after round three.  The final round will be played at St. Andrews.  We have a slightly larger field than normal which will also get cut to fewer than normal due to this being a pro-am tournament.  Due to the different courses, the vagaries of the weather, links golf etc., it will likely pay dividends to employ stategy for this event.  Scoring remains the same so lots of points available in round three so think about who is playing which course when.  There is no guarantee that employing this strategy will pay dividends and the value of your picks can go down as well as up.

Coming a week after the Tour Championship some of the big name double dippers are not playing.  Brooks Koepka, ranked 17th in the OWGR, is the headline player.  He's joined by defending champion Oliver Wilson and former champions David Howell, Branden Grace, Michael Hoey, Martin Kaymer, Robert Karlsson, Nick Dougherty, two time winner Padraig Harrington, Stephen Gallacher, Lee Westwood, and Paul Lawrie.  Only Colin Montgomerie and Simon Dyson are missing out as past champions.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

You probably just had the wrong attire and footwear on. If you are wrapped up in nice warm golf jacket with a pair of dry cosy golf shoes the day is much more bearable. A hip flask doesn't detract from the experience either.

Yup - I'd give him the first 3 (unless, of course, one of them's doing particularly well and then I'd give him the three who aren't )

One of them is under par, the other two are over par. The fourth, not referenced above, is under par. I think it's reasonable to assume he meant the first three.

Has the first round finished?  According to the ET website the leaderboard is as at end of round 1 but two players look like they haven't finished their rounds; anyone know?

The ET leaderboard actually says "In Progress" as Hoey and Doak are yet to finish.
Edit: Sorry Grumps. On the leaderboard page, it says it is finished. But I go via the main page where it says "In Progress"

Not sure about Hoey and Doak; Golf Channel are showing Hoey is -2 after 16, Doak +1 after 17 holes and several doughnuts.
Plus Eddie Molinari was a non-starter.

Thanks INW, Kwini. Weird isn't it? Both Hoey and Doak are picks which is a pain. However, unless crazy things happen they are unlikely to get into either the top 5 low round scores or shoot the worst score. I'l post an unofficial leaderboard for round 1.

With what looks like an incomplete round 1 in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship I'm fairly certain that there won't be any changes to the scoring.  Nevertheless this is an unofficial update.

Kingsbarns was the easiest of the three courses yielding a stroke average almost two shots under par, St Andrews was next; the merest of margins below par, while Carnoustie lived up to its nickname of Carnastie with a stroke average of 72.5.  It's not surprising that two of the lowest scores came on Kingsbarns, the other came at St Andrews.  Paul Dunne and Jimmy Mullen both shot 64 at Kingsbarns while Kristoffer Broberg had that at St Andrews.  BlueCoverman picked Dunne and he takes an early lead for roud one.  Richard Bland, Soren Kjeldsen, and Anthony Wall shot 65 to round out the top 5 low round scores.  1GrumpyGolfer, Eyetoldyouso, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, McLaren, MustPuttBetter, Pedro, SirBenson, and Super_Realist all picked one of those three.

At the other end of the leaderboard Jordi Garcia Pinto had an 81 for the worst round.

It appears Doak and Hoey did finish round 1. Link on ET website to scoring sheets from each location shows them with a 73 and 71 respectively. I'll wait for the website to be back before making the leaderboard official.
