I presume you mean Glaws deserved the TBP win? Sound like Wuss got some luck there to keep the LBP - wish LI could get some of that.

Just seems wrong to me.
Agree - I think the yellowed prop should come back on and another player should go off - as it stands the attacking team lose the advantage when it goes uncontested ...

Re: The Jeff - Round 3
I half expected Craig Maxwell-House to do a Joubert and run off at full time. 2 truly atrocious decisions nearly cost us the game. Still not much consolation for how inept we were. That was the worse performance I've seen from 36. The silver lining was hearing the Bath result!

Great to see Baths spending paying off. Can't wait to see Bath stick it to the French now they can compete with them.

The World Cup is over.
Time for Club Rugby to take back over.
I expect Saints to get past Sale, but once their RWC cavalry reports for duty, and if motivated or in form, whatch your nappies. This is a decent team coming at you.

Other than OAP Matfield, who else is left to come back to the squad?
I reckon we can predict how Saints season will go - they will look the best side by far - they will have an early spring wobble in form and will enter the business end of the season looking tired. Fantastic squad that Mallinder will screw up, again.

PS Like Northampton club and team, do not rate Mallinder one jot. He reached his shelf-life a few years ago and is holding the team back.

Dr is not going to be happy with you LT
I actually kind of agree though, Mallinder has one style and has held a very good squad back. I wouldn't want him anywhere near the England job.

Re: The Jeff - Round 3
Bit harsh on Mallinder you don't win the prem by being a bad DOR.
Sometimes as a saints fan I am baffled by some of our coaching calls; seems to miss the obvious but unfortunately that happens far too often for the liking of us armchair pundits!
At the end of the day Mallinder and his team have overseen the most successful period in Saints history and I will continue to trust them as long as the positives continue to outweigh the negatives (and we keep on beating Tiggs when it matters

Re: The Jeff - Round 3
Thing is with the players they have Saints should have won more than one premiership. They should have beaten Leicester in important matches more than once.
The Saints squad over the last 5/6 years has been far superior to Leicester and they have promised to deliver multiple titles - yet they keep losing big games to a wide variety of opposition.
not saying Mallinder is a bad DoR - just feel that:
a) He keeps making the same mistakes
b) He has taken the team as far as he can.

Re: The Jeff - Round 3
I rate the Saints team very highly. Previously I thought their squad was weak. A couple of injuries in key positions and they were quickly limited. That's not so much a problem now. They have recruited pretty well (no replacement 8 is the only ommission) and have promoted through the academy positively. Mallinder must now adapt and rotate the squad intelligently to obtain continued form for the entire season.
If he can't do that this season then I'm with LT. Currently I'm on the fence. As an aside I wouldn't have him on any England shortlist.

Can anyone comment on how the returning Scottish internationalists played:
-i.e. Heathcote, Maitland, Cowan, Visser, Duncan Taylor?
They were probably pretty rusty, I would think?
Muchas gracias.

Its like watching an amateur colts team.
John Wells is dated and hes both forwards and defence coach. He's obviously not done any defensive coaching.
Dean Richards has to go and take the rest of them with him.

Something needs to change, Deano maybe had to stay due his long contract.
The squad should be doing better imo so it has to be a coaching change somewhere.

He he he its laughable.
I agree the squad has good players. We shouldn't be this bad. Its totally down to coaching.

Visser looked pretty good, unlucky to have try ruled out for a forward pass off Brown

LondonTiger wrote:LI deserved something. Sarries pulled away during YC period. For me it was a clear cut YC being a high clothes linbe that in days gone by would have been red.
However I reckon I saw punches thrown by two Sarries in the aftermath and pushing and shoving from all sides. Sarries should also have seen Yellow and could have been red (if eithe rpunch landed - not sure they did). LI could have had more players binned for the melee too though.
Now I've seen it on BT Sport today I'm not sure it's that clear cut at all ... and the guys in the studio thought it was harsh.

Defence not so clever though. Wasps have been excellent at the breakdown, so many good operators.

In attack Visser was very good, he set up our 2nd try with a lovely strong running line and offload. Defended pretty well but was at fault for a try (that meant nothing) by stepping in.

Wells massively undermined Ashton and then Johnson when he was a coach for England. He's doing the same for Richards too, just a terrible terrible coach.

We've looked massively off the pace, bordering unfit. I have no idea what's going on as we were at least playing some good rugby last season in defeat.
