US presidential elections - Page 2 Empty US presidential elections

Post by spencerclarke Tue 02 Feb 2016, 7:41 am

First topic message reminder :

Morning all,

So after the win in Iowa for Ted Cruz last night where do we see this going?

I'm thinking Clinton v Rubio. Lots of twists and turns still to come though.

Hillary has shown herself to be a duplicitous, untrustworthy turncoat who just says whatever she has to. Nobody truly knows what she believes.

She says she's anti-Wall Street but then takes over $3m as a "speaking fee" from Goldman Sachs.

Sanders, on the other hand, has an impeccable voting record, has never changed his stance on the important issues and, quite honestly, seems to be the only genuine person in this entire shower of candidates.

Yes, his ideas are different, but isn't that what America needs right now? All of the candidates bang on about the economy. What does is matter that the economy is growing when wages for the average American haven't risen since the 80s and have fallen in real terms? Executive pay has rocketed since then and ordinary, gullible Americans are far worse off now than they have been for decades.

But the economy is growing, so everything is alright.

New Hampshire is made for Bernie......Plus anti-establishment is in vogue...Look at Trump.....

They have a record of going for the outsider..always have.

Hillary plays well with minorities.......Plentiful in supply elsewhere..

Look at the demography in the big States.........It all suits Hillary....and States like Florida are winner takes all..

I'm prepared to debate US politics with you guys....But unlettered, unsubstantive pops makes it hard work..

Getting a bit spicy the Sanders/Clinton fight..

Last night old Bernie told her to stop treating the American public as if they were dumb...

He didn't do enough to win though.....and he needs to win these debates..

Obama will play in S Carolina...Mainly blacks that vote there...

But most Americans view him as a wind and p**s fulltime golfer ..part time President..

Half the reason why anti-establishment is in vogue..

They are sick of bullcrappers like him..

His approval rating is very poor.

Clinton should comfortably take Nevada, and South Carolina should look more or less like New Hampshire in reverse. But it seems the Clinton campaign is trying to downplay expectations in Nevada, so either they think they need to make a normal win look special, or they think they're doing worse than they have any right to.

Alas, I'm not a physician. My point, just to be clear, before was that just because there's a YouTube (or somewhere else on the Interweb) "documentary" making a claim, doesn't make it so. Is that a bit better?

Ah. The usual. "Any debate with you is a waste of time". I couldn't give a XXXX what their positions are here. FFS, an internet 'documentary' is not, a priori evidence that something is true. That was my point, but you go ahead and make it whatever you like if it makes you happy.

See the DNC are shafting Bernie...Obama after he beat Clinton put a ban on  the amount Wall Street lobbyists could give a democratic candidate so as not to look like they were in hoc to them..

Sanders has raised plenty of cash lately so the DNC lifted the ban..

Told you Sanders won't get a fair fight with Clinton....She has too many friends including the useless President. .

The caucus in NV is his last chance to make an impression before Super Tuesday as SC is a write off..

Trump wants to be careful attacking George Bush it doesn't play well with many GOPers. .

Sanders 47..Clinton 44..

First time he's been in lead..

Could be an outlier and Clinton has SC firewall next week.

Sanders needs to win NV tomorrow...

Because he isn't in power (yet).

DC isn't embarassing the country, either, though I'm not saying he's doing a particularly good job. Pig-gate was the only 'embarassing' thing I can remember recently.

Clinton takes Nevada albeit not comfortably...Sanders had to win..

Problem is he's close enough to carry on all the way and one wonders how damaged she'll be just beating him..

First time i'm doubtful she can win a general..

Rubio beats her for me...She should be beating Sanders easier than this..

Loozing at a brokered convention...Good news for Rubio..

Even better news is Bush quitting...His establishment vote will go to Rubio and even more importantly his donors !!!..

Rubio will win..As long as Trump can't cross the delegate line...Being ahead at the convention won't be enough..

Never misunderestimate (see what I did there?) the stupidity of the average American, remember this is country that gave the world George Bush Jr. TWICE.

If Bernie takes the Dem nom, Trump is a shoe in. And the world is in trouble........

Congratulations, Mr. President.

Problem Trump has is that he's not had any big states yet like Ohio and Texas which are winner takes all... with triple the amount of delegates!! Both currently have Cruz and Kasich winning.....He's down in other States but up in the most..Which means Trump has a great chance of winning the most delegates but falling short of the line....

Which means it will be a brokered convention.............Then the establishment get involved and it ends up ugly if a deal can't be brokered..

Looking a good bet for me a brokered convention..

Last brokered convention saw Ford beating Reagan in 76.............

BTW.......For any idiots/trolls out there....Sanders can't win now..........The super delegate count and system has put it out of a reach (Clinton is 500 ahead)..........Nevada really was the last chance saloon for the momentum.....He's staying in I imagine so he can get 35-40% of the delegates and get concessions on policy and a left winger on the ticket probably....Like Elizabeth Warren..

Superdelegates are a disgrace..............The GOP doesn't have them and it's a better system.
