The third round was completed and the first cut line fell at even par. Forty picks were at that mark or lower, the MDF cut line fell at one under and another five picks slammed their trunks and slunk out of the Monterey area of California. Super_Realist fared the best of the Fantasy Leaguers; all nine of his picks made the first cut and the full set of bonuses propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. "Six" Fantasy Leaguers have eight picks left, I say "six" because both Ray's final choices and castoff selections saw eight make it through. BobtheJob, Eyetoldyouso, LadyPutt, and Pedro also have eight picks left. Beninho, BlueCoverman, EmmDee57, McLaren, and SetupDetermines all have seven picks left; Beninho and EmmDee earned two cut bonuses. AlciG, Davie, GolferMartin, I'M Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, Owen10ozzy, SirBenson, and TheCleaver all have six picks left; Owen was the only one not to earn a cut bonus. Hibbz is left with just five picks left and 1GrumpyGolfer has just three; both earned a cut bonus.
Normally round three sees lots of points dished out for the Top 10 Low Round scores but the vagaries of this tournament meant it was only the top 5 that earned points. Jimmy Walker had the round of the day with a 63 and his nine under round was three shots better than anyone else. Rounds of five under were good enough to round out the top 5 and two other picks were among those scores. Hibbz, Kwinigolfer, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver picked Walker while SetupDetermines picked Phil Mickelson. Padraig Harrington was the other pick to score points and SirBenson had Harrington and Mickelson too.

The annual AT&T ham it up fest will take place in what seems to be wet, and miserable, California. The Pro-Am format means increasingly long rounds and cringing footage of celebrities hacking and yakking their way around three spectacular courses although don't hold out much hope of seeing courses not named Pebble Beach.
A strong field led by world number one, Jordan Spieth, and six others from the top ten join Brandt Snedeker who's the defending champion and aiming to be the sixth player to successfully defend the title. He would join the likes of Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Mark O'Meara, and Dustin Johnson if he manages it. Snedeker also won the title in 2013. Other former champions in the field include Jimmy Walker, Phil Mickelson, D.A. Points, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh, and Davis Love III. Mickelson and Love III have also won the event on multiple occasions.
Pebble Beach Golf Links are down as the hosts but the first three days of play is spread over three different courses; Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula, and Spyglass Hill. With that being the case the points scoring opportunities are amended to take into account the scoring differentials between the three courses. Points for Top 5 Low Round scores will be awarded in rounds two and three as the cut takes place after round three.
There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one. There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

That's better, not much but it's better.
Lowest I've seen is -14 with a -37 windchill, but the wind hasn't been as fierce as forecast. Good thing. I see much colder (record in the -20's) temps in CNY and the Adirondacks.

Am sure my cast offs will seal the deal today. Pretty much guaranteed as soon as grumpy decided to track them.

If you'd have edited your original selections I wouldn't have had the opportunity but they are looking a lot better than Alci's set the other day.
I input the picks at the last moment just in case there are any changes to anyone's lineups unfortunately that means I don't always recognise a bad pick until it's too late. Sorry Hibbz.

Not a need for an apology Grumps. All my own fault for not bothering to pick reserves and for being such a Jerry Tarde after Kwini and yourself had both been kind enough to nudge me for an alternative.

I've got no idea how it happened but I know Vaughn Taylor shot 65 and Phil Mickelson had a level par round and that meant Taylor won by one. Beninho proved to be a wise selector from Cat C; he picked Taylor, the rest of the Fantasy League, nope. Spurred on by this sage pick he added two other scoring picks and made a late challenge to Super_Realist. Unfortunately for Ben the lead Super had opened up proved to be vital. Super was one of two Fantasy Leaguers to have four picks score points and that was enough to hold off SetupDetermines who had three picks score points including the runner up in Phil Mickelson. LadyPutt was the other Fantasy Leaguer who had four picks score points and that help her finish in a tie with Ben. Hibbz, Kwinigolfer, and McLaren also had three picks score points. BobtheJob, Davie, EmmDee57, Eyetoldyouso, GolferMartin, Raycastleunited, and TheCleaver all had two picks score points. AlciG, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, and SirBenson all had one pick score points however there was a wide differential between the quality.
Taylor's round of 65 was the joint low round of the day. Patrick Reed had the other and that earned additional points for BobtheJob, Davie, LadyPutt, and Ray's Castoffs.

I've got no idea how it happened but I know Vaughn Taylor shot 65 and Phil Mickelson had a level par round and that meant Taylor won by one. Beninho proved to be a wise selector from Cat C; he picked Taylor, the rest of the Fantasy League, nope. Re: Fantasy League 2016 - Winter/Spring Session - Event #05 - Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Well done Super.
I think I will change my strategy. Not go for numbers as such, but pick on other relevant factors, colour of eyes, letters in their name, distance travelled to the event. You know, all the must have statistics to base your selections on.
Thanks Grumps

Given his comments on the data thread I imagine super uses astrology to make his picks.

Another reasonable finish for me without really threatening. I'm the Spurs of this league.

I'm the Everton of the league, lots of promise but nothing ever coming of it! Two depressing finishes in a row....to early to change my method of picking..hmmm.

I was Man City this week: enough depth to pick two world class selections. Still under performed.
