Silly season transfer rumours III...
First topic message reminder :
Aaron Jarvis has signed for Clermont (http://www.planetrugby.com/news/ospreys-prop-jarvis-to-join-clermont/). The Osprey's signed Rhodri Jones as a replacement I guess.
Steve Shingler (of is he eligible for Scotland or not fame) has gone to the Blues. Straight swap of Shingler for Patchell. Hope Cardiff are paying less as Scarlets got the better player (http://www.planetrugby.com/news/shingler-swaps-scarlets-for-blues/)

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
Agree that Dixon is a fantastic player but also think he will be capped this Summer.
McCaw is retired, Messam playing 7s and Victor Vito heading to France after the Super Rugby season finishes.
Matt Todd or Ardie Savea will be front runners to take up residence behind Same Cane for the 7 shirt.
After that they will want an 8 to back up Read and a 6 to back up Kaino. Dixon could find himself in a very good position to cover either/both. Luatau will be desperate to get a look back in as well I expect and I hear Akira Ioane is a hell of a talent but with a lot of experience leaving the squad a rounded and experienced Super Rugby performer should be in a very good position.

With back row options like Read, Todd, Cane, Luatua, Kaino, Ioane, Savea and Whitelock is it certain?

Savea isn't available, Ioane isn't available.
Todd doesn't offer the bench options Dixon does.
George Whitelock is in Japan
Luke Whitelock hasn't played a game yet I think.
I would say he has a big big chance of getting capped.

Luke Whitelock has been rotating in at the Highlanders hasn't he?
Don't get me wrong I though Dixon should have been capped last summer. Just think he's the type of player we should be targeting. Hard working, gives options in attack and defence and has some power to his game.

Glaws have signed another Kiwi with an English goldfish, Josh Hohneck will add much needed strength at prop.
Morgan and Laidlaw both have a year to run on their contracts, so we'd be due a decent signing fee if either were to go. Although as has been said Morgan is a different player for Glaws than England and it wouldn't be the end of the World if he left. Laidlaw is going nowhere!!

Doubt anyone would pay for Morgan ATM, Glous will prob want the cap space more ATM.

The cap is going up and didn't they say they aren't up to the cap at the minute? There should be some money for them to spend. What to Glass actually need? A loosehead, blindside and centre. Shouldn't require squad cuts.

First I have heard of them saying that although what is the cap really ATM? I know Exeter spend roughly up to the cap wouldn't be surprise if Glous don't roughly spend up to the cap considering players like Hibbard, Afoa and Thrush will be pricey.
Glous need depht most of all And really need to get a 10 as well as a 13.
If I was being picky Glous could prob need starters @

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
Maybe it was finding an owner that would invest enough to allow them to spend up to the cap.
They have Hook, Burns and Laidlaw as 10 options. An OC definitely high on the priority list. Is Galarza staying or heading to Super 18? I was never overly sure why they let Cox go and join Wuss. He was always a handy option at either lock or 6.
Gloucester need to decide on a style of play before worrying about much else.

Guess if a new coach comes in he will want To have his own players as well.

There are a few others to consider in NZ; Squire, Tupou, Shields and Seu all have potential to be and develop into long term AB's

Dixon looks a little average to be an AB imo. Shields is a talent and Ioane is potential world class, shame he's off to 7's.

Breaking news from Parc Y Scarlets that Joe Marler set to sign for Scarlets next season.A spokesmen said "He"ll bring a bit of 'posh' to the region".The team will in future be known as the 'Sospans Posh'.The England Head Coach has welcomed the move as part of his plan to improve the English scrum by one of his key men playing alongside the best props in professional rugby. At all home games next season match music will come from the albums of the Gypsy Kings.

Saracens sign Toulouse and France hooker Christopher Tolofua. Good signing for them, he's a very powerful player really underused by his current club.
Also Australien no9 Nic White is looking to leave Montpellier, I wonder who'll take him if he can get out of his contract early.

Laidlaw is only an emergency 10 as we'd play 36 ahead of him. Next season should see Mat Protheroe make the odd appearance. Galarza has signed a 2 year extension. Trinder being injured for most of the season hasn't helped but we've signed Matt Scott who'll help. Tom Marshall is a handy OC and he could feature there more if we do sign Matt Tait...
I think you're getting your Cox's confused. Matt Cox never played at lock for us as he doesn't have the build. He was a favourite player of mine and very feisty but he left because he wasn't good enough. 6 isn't an issue for us as we have Kalamafoni and Moriarty, we need a LH starter and strength in depth at hooker, lock, centre and FB. Hooker and centre have been addressed but we desperately need more if we're ever going to be anything other than a mediocre side.

Newcastle so far:
Todd Clever heading (maybe hes already gone) back to the States to take charge of one of the new teams over there. Eric Fry probably joining him
The tuilagi brothers both going.
Rob Hawkins on his way
Kane Thompson most likely going aswell.
Rumours of scrum half Ruki Tipuna and back rower Richard Mayhew going to Leeds.
We have signed Goneva, and the Jersey LH prop.

It may well be.
Id rather keep Tipuna over Mickey Young. And Mayhew is a good powerful flanker, but maybe wants to be playing more regularly.

Tito Tibaldi going from Quins to Treviso.
He'll get more game time there i assume and may be able to help bring the youngsters on.

This'll also be the first week of Quins DoR interviews, if you haven't had contact from the club then you've only got one more week of interviews to get in.
Amongst hopefully a few others Quins are having a Skype interview with Blackadder at Crusaders. Little bit wary of that as he seems to be massively under achieving with his all star team at the moment, I'd much prefer Robbie Deans who built that team for him.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
A number of those All Star Crusaders come in and out of the team with injury on a fairly regular basis. The All Blacks get good use out of them.
He seems to be doing a good job bringing on some new players this season and they do play a style of rugby not to dissimilar to Quins.

http://www.punditarena.com/rugby/adrumm/list-confirmed-premiership-signings-201717-season/
A list of confirmed AP signings for next season.
It's interesting seeing them all in a list like that. Exeter as you'd expect have 4 signings and all look very shrewd indeed.
LI are surely going to have a lot of guys enabling 'get-out' clauses if they go down though! A lot of good players already in their squad and signed for next season who surely won't want to play Championship rugby.
I'm sure that GF, Sarge, etc will be pleased to see that from that list at least that Josh Chisanga, the Kenya 7s monster currently at Falcons, is signed up for next season already.

I haven't really seen him play. But Scarlets are losing Michael Collins back to the NPC, he's a back 3 players who has mostly featured at full back. So the signing may have some substance and their coach Pivac still has his contacts in NZ.

He's been on Scotland fans' SQ watchlist for a couple of years and we'd be delighted if he came over for Vern Cotter to look more closely at.

Re: Silly season transfer rumours III...
Seeing as the premiership gloaters keep commandeering this thread I'm going to bring it back on topic. Dragons are said to be signing Craig Mitchell from the Blues. He will be our second prop from the Blues for next season, joining Sam Hobbs. Neither are rejects (actually not sure about Mitchell given his recent run and injuries), Blues just have an abundance of props and should be supplying Wales with them for many years. Hobbs looked in good form this year but since his move was announced, U20 Dillon Lewis has been in favour. Mitchell is a risk but if he stays injury free and works well with Kingsely we might see him play to the level which had got him selected for Wales duty - he was No.2 behind Adam Jones when available.

I hadn't realised Sale have signed AJ McGinty for next season. That's quite a shrewd signing to replace Cipriani.
Add in Charnley on the wing and that's two very god signings.

I may be wrong, but think that Sale have another 10 lined up too. Pretty sure that after McGinty had been announced that Diamond said there was someone else in the pipeline.

As they've lost McLeod and Cips they'll need two as I don't think there's an immediate replacement coming through the academy and Ford isn't anything above average at this level, he's reliably average I suppose. Diamond is doing some very good recruitment work this summer, Kruger and Longbottom could be great additions to the tight five.

Yeah he's doing a good job.
I like the look of that McGinty...he will be very good for sale. And Charnley will give some explosion and fire works on the wing...and maybe elsewhere if they move him around a little.
