Hi JimBob - thought Stewie and MDV were waiting for you to name the squad!
You could well be right about who misses out but I'll say Wilson and Pillans (Meaker has done well before at Guildford and that might just count in his favour).
As you might expect, I'll be there although fear I'll need a good umbrella!

Wilson and Pillans miss out my team - but they love Pillans so will drop Meaker instead

I reckon Meaker's expensive spell in the One Day match the other day will scare them off from playing him in T20. Him and Wilson to miss out I'd guess.

Somehow I'd managed to think this was a T20 match (despite ROYAL LONDON CUP in the thread title )

Brilliant first over by TC. Ravioli getting lift in the second. Got to appreciate everything while I can - rain not far away!

Now a 45 over match. I presume Pillans is mainly in the team as a batsman.

Doesn't fill one with much confidence as to the likely run rate. Tho tbf Pillans has so far been considerably more economical than usual! Sussex building momentum through Wright and the River Jordan - game beginning to swing in their favour, considering the short and largely out of form batting line up we've got.

Was referring more to the "bowling style" registered on Cricinfo which reckons that Pillans is the quicker bowler! Wright out now so could end up with a very chase-able target.

All out for 239 (with Batty only bowling 3 overs in the innings).

Hmmm... the latest rain break removed 5 runs and two overs from the Surrey target.

After a bright start Surrey gowing rapidly downhill, with Sanga, Davies and Ansari following Roy back into the hutch. 99-3.

Run rate still under control though, 4.90 needed for 27.3 overs. Foakes and Burns can afford to play themselves in.

50 partnership @ 5.18 between Foakes and Burns. Still a long way to go considering the failty of our lower order batting.
Worth noting that Burns' batting average in List A cricket is almost 39.

Weather should be ok to the close. Sussex fielding v poor and the difference so far. We're definitely on top but another wicket soon would put things in the melting pot ....

The odd blip at times but easily the best Surrey performance I've seen this season. Fielding was absolutely top notch. More later.

Re: SURREY VS SUSSEX SHARKS ROYAL LONDON CUP
All in all, a very good performance in surprisingly decent conditions after an hour was lost early doors.
Good work from all the bowlers. Only a couple of wickets for TC but he was the best for me. Regular accuracy and he got us the perfect start. Meaker's radar was sometimes off but he sure was fast. Rampaul also got a bit of tap at times but he obtained lift from the damp wicket and stole some of the honours with a fourfer.
We were looking in trouble with the bat when 99/4. However, Burns - after a scratchy start - and Foakes put on a vital and impressive partnership to see us comfortably home in the end.
Most excellent of all though was our fielding. Probably the best I've seen in a single day from Surrey and in sharp contrast to the rather sloppy work of Sussex. Fine diving boundary stops by Burns and Pillans, an assortment of top quality catches from Roy and Sanga and a gem of a stumping by Foakes. I'm sure he'll be an England keeper - the only question is when.
