Hi MfC - suspect you weren't as quick with that post as Roy with the ball!

Re: England vs Sri Lanka - the one day and t20 stuff
no idea, only switched on in Moeen's previous over myself.
Back to Roy, his level in the field in the last couple of games has been truly excellent. A fine catch in the last game and some fine saves, and that moment of brilliance there. Hope that this is his level from now on. As I said, I felt his fielding for England had up to that point been under par (by his own high expectations).

Hokey doke, MfC.
I would say this wouldn't I about Roy

Saw a recording of Plunkett's wickets a few minutes ago (only once in real time). He seemed pretty fast although I wasn't convinced about the lbw - looked a bit leg side and possibly high.

Reckon England needed that wicket. Matthews looked capable of taking Sri Lanka to a pretty decent total , given they have a few more hitters left .
Not sure what a good total is to be honest after the way England came back from that disastrous start to tie the previous game ; though I guess you can't expect that every day.
Plunkett quite impressive from what I've seen.
And now a fine catch from Willey sees five down
Just as well there wasn't a collision there !

poor inning from Prasanna. Well as he played in the first game he took a bit of time to play himself in, and played the ball on its merits, albeit with aggressive intent. Here he came in and just swung at everything with no discernment. Not what his team needed. Fine catch from Willey though, and Rashid has bowled very nicely again.

Good spell from Rashid. Settled down well after his first couple of overs and those two wickets have swung things back in England's favor
Run out now ! Roy again ...guilford will be pleased
Big wicket.

Indeed. Good to see - also with an eye to the Tests : will need him in good form in India in a few months.

Tharanga doing a good job to get Sri Lanka up over 240 but I doubt that will be enough on a good batting pitch.
If England wins this it will just about wrap up the wonderful new Combined Multi-format Prize ...is everyone excited about that ?

Didn't see that much but my immediate reaction is to agree with Atherton's assessment of Sri Lanka's total - ''respectable but no more''.
10 more on the reel from Rashid. It works and did so even better today.

Ah, so now Alex Hales gets a ton!
Haven't seen any of today, but looks like a crushing England victory. A shame the World Cup was last year.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka - the one day and t20 stuff
Love it when Hales goes into full destructive mode, such a clean striker of the ball. Fine knocks from him and Roy. TBH SL's total felt below par, and so it proved. Obviously I felt the same in the first match, but this time England didn't fall to 30/4 and 80/6.
An absolute humping that, and great to see Roy get some runs again, such a fine talent. I'd give him the edge over Hales in the MOM stakes for his two run outs, with an honourable shout to Rashid.

Flat track bullies aside thats pretty impressive stuff from the openers.
Bowlers did the groundsork whilst still lacking a real cutting edge but by cricket that batting ... well its about time the front 4 pulled their weight and there it is.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka - the one day and t20 stuff
Didn't sit up for the England innings but not surprised they did it easily .
However I didn't think it would be that easy ! Hales and Roy obviously had a terrific day...are Sri Lanka already mentally on the plane ?
Not going to go overboard yet : as Duty mentioned above , the World Cup was last year ; and England have a tendency to peak at the "wrong" times in ODIs . Still this looks a pretty handy and rather exciting team , all quite young - and keep in mind Stokes is still out of action at present...have to be hopeful.

Jordan for Ali the only England change - England bowl first again, with rain likely to effect the game the sensible choice

If there's bad light at Bristol today, the flood lights can't be used due to local planning restrictions. No such problems at the Oval where the inhabitants of Vauxhall count for nothing!

Jayawardene is just convinced that scores of 270/280 will be good scores on a pitch that's doing nothing and a small ground with the SL attack

That Prasanna seems to know only one way to bat...
Trouble is it doesn't seem to work very often.
I've only watched the first over and the last half hour and I've seen three wickets fall ...apparently there was some good batting in between ? They still look to be struggling to get a serviceable total.
Tharanga/Matthews together might see this to a half decent score yet : but it looks as if the weather will be taking a hand.

They're just an ordinary batting line up - showing very little intent before the last 10 overs
Same innings in all three so far - just very ordinary from the Sri Lankans

Dopey running...or non- running. Close decision , but out.
Sri Lanka folding meekly. Be lucky to get 250. Should be a breeze for England again.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka - the one day and t20 stuff
Any chance of a game at all today? Forecast looks very bleak.
Its better for Cardiff but still likely some rain.
The series has petered out a bit after a cracking start and as usual the whole tour feels like its dragging on a bit now. Roll on Pakistan, there should be better and more vocal crowds and a bit more needle for that, hopefuly a bit more quality too without being the 3 day tests we saw last time they were here ( plus associated nonsense)

Well this series has been a bit flat. Exciting finish to the first game, badly one-sided second match then one and probably two rain ruined matches. Its been a very poor tour, now failing to find coverage in the aftermath of England exiting the Euros and Wimbledon starting and can't end soon enough in all honesty

Robin Smith made 167* in a 55 over game and England only made 277, and ended up losing. Simpler times.

Brilliant knock from Roy. SL's bowling just not good enough at this level for me. Good to see Root back in form too.
Only watched the start of SL's innings, England looked a bit dopey with the ball and in the field, albeit SL batted with much better intent than in the first three games.
