SURREY HAVE NAMED A FOURTEEN MAN SQUAD FOR THE NATWEST T20 BLAST GAME AGAINST MIDDLESEX AT LORD’S THIS EVENING.
Azhar Mahmood returns to the squad after recovering from the calf strain that has kept him out of action since the second game of the competition. Smile  James Burke also returns to the squad but Zafar Ansari is unavailable for selection due to a back injury. Sad
Tom Curran is away with the England Lions playing in the current Tri-Series against Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A.
The whole game will be broadcast on Sky Sports 2 with coverage starting at 6pm.
The Surrey squad to play Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast at Lord’s on Thursday 21st July:
Gareth Batty (capt)
James Burke
Rory Burns
Sam Curran
Steven Davies
Jade Dernbach
Aaron Finch
Ben Foakes
Azhar Mahmood
Stuart Meaker
Chris Morris
Mathew Pillans
Jason Roy
Dominic Sibley
Meaker,Burke and Pillans to miss out for me
six bowlers should be fine and batting is strengthened with the return of azhar

About time, JimBob. Guess you've been consoling Mr Wenger after he got beaten to the top job. Inevitable after Big Sam received those glowing references from the Corporal and Goochie. Wink

Agree about Meaker and Burke missing out. You could be right about Pillans as well although I feel he might squeeze Burns or Davies out.

Good call on the eleven, JimBob.

Yeah, outside of the Allardyce family, I can't really see anyone being excited by Big Sam's appointment. He and his teams are normally functional and capable of surviving but hardly exciting or winners.

196/5. A decent score and will take some catching if the likes of Dernbach and Azhar use their experience wisely. Still would have liked another 10 or 15 - as so often, the foot seemed to come off the gas a bit in the second half.

Terrible start by Surrey with the ball as Middlesex motor to 56/1 off 4. Curran, Dernbach, Azhar and Morris each going for between 12 and 16 off one over.

Excellent from Roy and Finch - but our middle order limitations in T20 shown up again - 80-0 off 6 overs, we should be reaching 200 at the very least

Real game on here - need Morgan quick

Middle 84/2 off 8. We actually had more runs at same stage with 2 wickets also down. However, I don't see Middle's middle order slacking off as ours did (in line with Olly's post). Also, Sibley is realistically the only 'extra' bowler we can turn to - would have preferred Pillans earlier to use an over.

Go down at the start of the 20th by 5 wickets. Well beaten in reality. Lost our way when batting in the second half of our knock (too few boundaries culminating in just 3 runs off the last over when we probably needed at least 15). Decent return by Dernbach with 3 wickets but none of the other bowlers got to grips with the game.

Should've got at least 220 after that start, then the worst, brain-dead, collective bowling performance imaginable
