UFC 205 - Page 2 Empty UFC 205

First topic message reminder :

So this massive card is taking shape. What an evening we have in store!

McGregor vs Alvarez for the lightweight title
Thompson vs Woodley for the Welterweight title
Chris Weidman vs Yoel Romero
Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz
Tim Kennedy vs Rashad Evans
Cowboy vs Kelvin Gastelum
Tim Boetsch vs Rafael Natal
Jim Miller vs Thiago Alves
Meisha Tate vs Racquel Pennington

Wow, and I'm only an hour's flight from NYC. Might try to get tickets!

Personally, I'm not happy with McGregor vs Alvarez as the main event. Conor hasn't even defended his own title yet and he's being handed top bouts for going 1-1 with Nate Diaz. I think Alvarez will handle him. If he struggled to keep up with Diaz's cardio, Alvarez will run him out of the cage.

So who do you have for these fights?

Diaz vs McGregor will bring in more money than anyone else. I reckon he is a big pull now. Obviously not McGregor level, but bigger than every other fighter around his weight class.

McGregor vs anyone would be just as big. Nobody cares about Diaz.

You're wrong. I guarantee Diaz vs McGregor would do HUGE business if they fight again. Especially for the title.

So Diaz hasb;t fought anyone except for McGregor in a year and he automatically gets a title shot? Give over. He doesn't deserve it. Khabib or Ferguson should get it.

McGregor brings in money, he gets his shot. Diaz is more marketable than the other two. What don't you understand?

Did Conor and Diaz not have two edge of your seat fights??

Fans want to see these events. Nobody cares about Khabib other than die hard fans.

The people that pay to see McGregor, don't even know who these other guys are. They know Diaz, because of the last two fights.

It's a complex business. Money matters as much as other things.

people will pay good money to see mcgregor fight the best no matter who it is, diaz is nowhere near the best lightweight, he gave him problems at welter but shouldnt mean he gets the shot over better lightweights.

ufc has had a fairly decent track record of giving title shots to those who deserve it, few blips and fast tracks here and there but overall fairly decent. it would be going down a slipperly slop to give diaz a title shot purely to appease mcgregor. the diaz fight is a fight they have couple down the line after/if mcgregor defends a couple of times (gives the likes of ferguson/khabib a chance). or even if he's loses the title it still has enough interest without a title

certainly shouldn't be his first defence. first of all mcgregor should be made to defend his featherweight title. if he still wants it, well overdue a defence of that

I predict Diaz v McGregor 3 before Conor goes on hiatus.

Then a comeback fight against Khabib in Russia followed by Frankie Edgar in the winter at FW.

Woodley up next followed by Mayweather at Croke park in Summer 2018 with 3 belts on the line.

Whilst I agree with you, Diaz does deserve the rubber match with CM, but Khabib & Ferguson must fight him first. If he beats these two then Diaz rubber match.

I think CM should give up the FW title, the big fights are at LW and possibly WW if he feels confident and remains unbeaten.

see the ufc hype train has started again on roussey. hope she gets beat. thinks its unfair the way certain fighters get red carpet treatment from the ufc because they make more money. as a governing body they should be impartial. not many other fighters would get knocked out then come straight back and gain a title shot again (silva being the only one i can think of)

Never been a fan or Rousey.
Would like to see her lose to.

Would have liked to see her fight Miesha and lose, but won't happen now.

They aren't a governing body though, they are a private company.
