NERD ALERT - 1st 2016-17 Web-com Reshuffle...
PGA Tour Web-com Finishers RESHUFFLE
Another pretty decent season kick off for the Webbies through the 1st reshuffle. 3 winners out of the category, Cody Gribble (Rookie), Rod Pampling (veteran) and Mackenzie Hughes (Rookie)
EDIT: Based on the last few years... the top-10 in the webbie category has a decent change of getting into everything except theTour Championship Tournament of Champions before then next resuffle. And not even all the top-10 to top-15 are guaranteed to get into the WMPO or Los Angeles either. But of course the 3 winners above will get into all. The top 15-25 should get in to at least 3 events, outside shot at 4, but the bottom 10 will probably only get 3 starts before the next reshuffle after Los Angeles.
Based on last year... here's the stats on the Webbies who were entered but did not make the field for the next 6 events in this next reshuffle (ToC not included)
12 left out - Sony Open
00 left out - Career Builder (but field went only 1 spot beyond webbies)
00 left out - Farmers Insurance (field went 6 places beyond webbies)
29 left out - Waste Management Phoenix Open
00 left out - AT&T Pebble Beach (field went 23 places beyond webbies)
24 left out - Genesis Open L.A.

Re: NERD ALERT - 1st 2016-17 Web-com Reshuffle...
robo,
I know he thinks he'll get plenty of sponsor invites, but this is indicative of the hole that Beef has put himself in. He's got to come to play every chance he gets.
Seamus Power has shown lots of game but squandered to terrific opportunities to climb still higher.
And Gonzo needs a really big week - just drifting at present.
Bobby Wyatt gets plenty of chances but not shown yet, other than one week in NOLA, that he's worthy of the hype.

Beef should have got 10.2 FEX pts for his 5 way T47 in the HSBC Championship.
And I think you meant the Tournament of Champions, and not the Tour Championship.
DeChapeau should still have enough pizazz to warner a few more sponsors invites.
And (aside from winning) what does Camilo Villegas have to do get permanently upgraded into better exemption category? If he gets 500 FEX pts, does that do anything for him?

Thanks for both catches... above is fixed. I didn't have any of these players in the HSBC...GPB wrote:Beef should have got 10.2 FEX pts for his 5 way T47 in the HSBC Championship.

A couple of years ago, I believe none of the Webbies got into the Los Angeles tournament.
And I doubt if the Phoenix Tournament gets more than 15 Webbies this years.

Re: NERD ALERT - 1st 2016-17 Web-com Reshuffle...
That L.A. event was 2013. It was looking for a while there that not even all the medicals or Top-10's from the prior event would get in. But as it turned out after the WD's, all the way through the 2 top-10's from the prior event got in, but none of the webbies/q-school guys did except the 4 sponsor exemptions (Fisher, Guthrie, LeBrun, D.H. Lee) they had in that category at that time (it's now 2). And I think 1 or 2 more might have Monday qualified... but I'm not sure on that. (Barber, Beckman, S. Harrington and R. Streb were the 4 Monday Q's). At least 8 webbies got into L.A. in 2014, and at least 15 in 2015 and at least 15 again in 2016. (those 3 years are counting ONLY the 2 Webbie SE's + the guys in the webbie category.... others could have gotten in via other SE's or Monday Q.)GPB wrote:A couple of years ago, I believe none of the Webbies got into the Los Angeles tournament.

PS... WMPO - Adding up ONLY the webbie designated SE's (1 since 2014) and Webbie category guys.... here's how many got in the WMPO since 2013 (again there might have been more via other SE's or Monday Qualifying which is 3 spots for this event)
2013=9
2014=1 - In this event 4 of the top-10's from the previous event did NOT get in and only 1 webbie SE.
2015=1 - In this event 2 of the 3 top-10s from the previous event did NOT get in and only 1 webbie SE.
2016=8
So yeah... could be less than 10 get in Phoenix.

Nitpick for clarity, you still got Beef at 0 FEX pts.
Rob Bolton has updated the reshuffle at Pgatour dot com
And I think PGATour might have banned from comments after my rant last week. I not getting any notifications that I have been banned, but I am unable to log in. I have reset my password multiple times.

Yes, I contacted Rob directly through twitter. He told me that livefyre has been having some issues.
If I have been blocked, they didn't delete my rant on the RSB power rankings. which I suspect they would.

By the way... who is this Truax guy... do I get the feeling he has it in for Bolton for some reason?GPB wrote:Yes, I contacted Rob directly through twitter. No idea. I have only seen him blog at PGATour dot com.
"Has it in for Rob."??
He is pretty knowledgeable so that rules out a certain Tampa Bay Bucs fan.
One of these days, I will register a new account. PGAT Site will be kind of dead until ToC.

In some ways do Beef and De Shampoo highlight the importance of establishing a persona the media will latch onto? Will they Both get a few more spots than their web.com status would otherwise allow because the fans and therefore sponsors want to see them?

Re: NERD ALERT - 1st 2016-17 Web-com Reshuffle...
My guess is they both will get plenty of SE's. DeChambeau started the season not needing them with a nice 5th priority spot in the category, but by playing poorly (and skipping a start he could have made) he's dropped to 31st Webbie priority and will likely be needing those SE's through the West Coast swing.McLaren wrote:In some ways do Beef and De Shampoo highlight the importance of establishing a persona the media will latch onto?
