It looks silly and it is silly.
Rugby, to keep it relevant.

Re: Likes/Dislikes feature on the forum? Really?
Had a bit of fun with it earlier, but think it would probably do more harm than good. Some posters probably won't care if some give them a dislike, like me And if someone does genuinely dislike a comment, it's better that they explain why, rather than hiding behind a 'Dislike'. I think it will cause unnecessary bad feeling for some.

Those '+' and '-' buttons by the bar seem to have disappeared now.
I'm quite happy to be disliked with words rather than stats anyway

Can't imagine disliking a post. If it's offensive, then I'll report it. However, I wouldn't mind tipping my hat to some, if only to let the poster know that it was read & appreciated, so they'll feel like writing something again.
I could say that in a post, but it would feel like blowing smoke up you-know-where, and might get a bit repetitive.

Think they disappear once you've used your quota. Could be wrong, but they disappeared once I used it three times - one positive and two negative. I know it works like that on another site.

Bit of fun for me but seems to have stopped working. I can see some of the more precious flowers amongst us getting upset by it tho

I just don't understand why I have to look at a silly thermometer next to each post.
That's aside from the fact I'm generally grumpy about the mindless like/dislike culture we seem to idolise now. I mean, do I really need to have a "likes" counter underneath my name?

I've never used it - only found out about it about 2 hours ago. But it almost instantly began losing the '+' and '-' and disappeared completely from most posts. So it's unworkable for me and I've tried two browsers to test it.
The old BBC 606 had a Like/Dislike tool. I used to love going around raising the 'like' register for people who seemed to get too many 'dislikes' just because their opinions were a tad unorthodox or were considered 'offensive' by the always-present righteously prim crowd. My spanner-in-the-works service to humanity. I don't think I ever used the 'dislike' button once. If this ever works again, I'm sure I'll be tempted into that old habit again if this new toy gets out of hand and people begin using it nefariously to try to kill off any poster.

Ah, maybe it's just glitchy.
It's partly because I think it can be used to bully that I'm against it.
Well, imagine if our old foes were here right now. It would be Like/Dislike war!

Mine doesn't seem to work and I've tried it in a couple of browsers. Could the reason be that I'm using a Mac?
I like the Up/Down arrow thing that the Guardian uses. Its good to guage opinion on stuff.

Do you need a goddamned gauge to determine what your opinion is, Sin? Jesus, you people are savages! If I could work my fecking gauge you'd all be banned!

I'm a professional in being a thorn in the side of practically any and all resident majorities, Sin. It needs years of specialist training. No matter what I say on any subject, it's a cert it's a minority opinion where I'm posting.
Tide might be turning though. I've had a few unusual notable (majority) successes this year. The winds of change are scented in the air.
Meanwhile though, I'm afraid you're just too Loveable to be a true Rebel, Sin

-15 I'm impressed, Fly. I only managed to get to -8 yesterday. No staying power
Still don't have the + - buttons.

I have nothing, Munch. I can't even count my own '-'s. I'm a guy in a gunfight whose guns have been taken from him before he's called onto the street. It's a duck shoot.
Of course now the true plan has been unveiled. It's a ploy to offload me and my 'FAKE' News agenda Thank you Hillary and CNN...................

I dunno Munch. Thinks aren't working my end, that's all I know. I can only see a bar sometimes beside people's names. No plus and minus symbols at all.
I'm beginning to think the Russians have hacked this site. But the idiots are picking on the wrong guy!!! If this keeps up this could mean all out war in Sneem!

You live in Munster!
Easy to get a Russian sub close to Sneem. Prepare the militia! Get the broomsticks out and the bathtubs launched!

Well now, in the present climate, I wouldn't telegraph it if I did.............
Nah, I was trying a counter insurgency method of making the sub boys bomb the wrong area. Sure isn't that where RubyGuby's folks hail from.

Ha! Thought maybe you had emigrated from Leinster to Sneem. A bit drastic, but makes sense if you're writing a book, or set on life as a Hermit I suppose.

Hmm...writing a book? Nice idea.
I love the West Coast, Munch - and a good bit of my family blood is from there so I'd probably only be going home if I upped sticks and moseyed on out that way.

I like it myself. Never been to Sneem, but have been in Dingle. The Galway coast is nice as well. Good places to take a break, or retire.
