Tonight's Action
The nights kicked off with Ward vs Hughes. Decent opener, close fight so far but I think ward might get a late stoppage.

A bit concerned on how many counters Ward is taking, not much of an exit strategy when moving out of range but yes Hughes looking the more tired and Ward should take over with extra weight of shots.

Looking a bit wild now ward to be honest. He's realised Hughes doesn't have the power to hurt him but he's not landing that much clean himself.

Right man won, good luck to Ward albeit from what I have seen tonight IMHO needs to stay at British level. That belt is gorgeous well worth trying to keep on a permanent basis.

Entertaining fight but no he is not. Where is the technique? No business lying back on the ropes.

Worthy winner there, Welborn. Morrison big and strong but no idea when he couldn't knock Welborn out early doors.

Re: Tonight's Action
Hope Crolla isn't going to try and employ the usual Joe Gallagher tactic of do nothing for the first 6 rounds!
I really want Crolla to win but it's hard to see anything but Linares winning.
Hopefully its a decent fight

Re: Tonight's Action
I was thinking that Crolla could make the adjustments having lost a competitive match last time out but whatever the plan is appears to be falling short early on and he needs to make an impact very shortly to have a chance.

Linares reading Crolla's attacks comfortably I can see him stopping Crolla late if this continues.

He's getting dominated. No chance unless he lands a hail Mary.

Re: Tonight's Action
Decent round 8 that from Crolla. Respect for coming back from that knockdown, I thought that was it.
If he's got the fitness he could make it tough for Linares in these last few rounds.

Another good round, no point standing off as he did earlier needs to press on and go for broke.

Re: Tonight's Action
He's putting up a decent effort isn't he but he's very limited in comparison to Linares who is clearly a class above. Think in hindsight there was no need for a rematch really.

Re: Tonight's Action
But no back to edging forward hoping to land shots when he arrives rather than punching on the way in, not going to work against someone with fast hands and great combinations.

Re: Tonight's Action
Linares was a class apart tonight and I think pretty much shut him out; 119-109 if i'm feeling generous giving Crolla maybe the 9th.

Pretty well agree, not put anything like enough pressure on Linares, allowing him time and space to work.

Linares was even better this time around
Wide win and a real classy display
Mikey garcia on the horizon though that will be a different story....

Re: Tonight's Action
Linares vs Garcia next surely?! Will be a great to see another fight featuring divisions top 2...though i think Garcia knocks him out within 6; Linares is very good....however Garcia is another level above him and with the power too think he will be too much.
Re: Tonight's Action
Garcia great match, he will have a blueprint of how not to fight Linares who I agree classy in and out of the ring.

I suspect we will see Crolla vs Luke Campbell in the none too distant future.

Re: Tonight's Action
Very good fight last night, think Linares edged it with a lucky knockdown :-)..............................
Linares just a different class, Crolla can still hold his head up high as he's achieved a hell of a lot more than most people ever thought he would and seemed to take on the tough fights all the time (Morrison take note). Nice little touch of him wanting to finish the fight but there's no reason he can't come back.
If not, would like to see a simple(ish) retirement fight in the MEN so he can bow out with a W.
Garcia next for Linares which could be a barnstormer although the power could be the seperator in that one. Looking like a good year so far

Re: Tonight's Action
Jorge Linares was sensational, hand speed, combinations etc dazzling. Crolla a top quality guy but he's not world class and Linares was far too good. Linares vs Garcia should be a decent fight, Linares' chin seemed to have improved compared to his early days. Crolla vs Flanagan probably Crolla's best option as Flanagan seems like a protected fighter

Re: Tonight's Action
crolla v flanagan will sell fairly easily in manchester
glad crolla saw the bell (not least because i lumped a fair bit on linares points). in the build up it was all talk of how crolla could adjust to make it a closer fight but people failed to mention that the better boxer had already seen what crolla had to offer and could make adjustments a lot easier than his lest talented opponent
