1872 Cup decider: Glasgow v Edinburgh 6th May 2017
First topic message reminder :
Date: Saturday 6th May
Time: 17:15
Where: Scotstoun Stadium
Unwilling participant: Edinburgh 'Rugby'
Slightly more willing, but frankly still underachieving participant: Glasgow Warriors
Things to play for: 1872 Cup, bragging rights, ability to walk around in public feeling like you can refer to yourself as a rugby player (Edinburgh specific)
Things to look out for (aka the Unicorn awards): a pair of Edinburgh players successfully transferring the ball from one to the other through the medium of 'a completed pass', Duncan Weir looking and playing like a fly half, Edinburgh managing to win 2 matches in a row, a hygienic looking Glasgow fan
I fear my thread may be more towards the FES end of the scale than the GC end. Apologies. Now, discuss.

That's got to be one of the worst backlines in the Pro 12.
Why do we have a hooker as back row sub??

Re: 1872 Cup decider: Glasgow v Edinburgh 6th May 2017
Just one point to make: I considered drawing up a composite side until I saw the line ups.
I don't think there's anyone in the Exiliaotors who could scrape into the real rugby team. Toolis/Cummings is debatable. But only for politeness' sake.
Another point: apart from Nick Grigg's On Fire and Sila Puafisi all the others are Scottish. Is the next Scotland coach making some kind of subtle, subliminal point here?
Yet another point: who is this Schizoid person who speaks so calmly and wisely? he reminds me of someone; I'm sure if you re-arrange the letters in his final sentence it says, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It reminds me of....Govan."

Because Michael Allan refused to play there.

That's a bit extreme, surely Hardie is a far superior player to Fusaro and a few other Edinburgh forwards are probably equal at least to their Glasgow rivals. The backs on the other hand...

A sensible combined 15 would have Toolis, Hardie and CDP in it but that's it.

Ah right y'are Ted, Hardie is there. I couldn't see him. Drowning as he is in a sea of mediocrity. For the ten minutes he will be on he will tackle everything that moves (so Meatball should be safe) until he knocks himself out and leaves for his pre-scheduled HIA.

Toolis... I did mention.
Hardie... see my comment above.
CDP...GTF , on his form this season if he stood behind yon Kardashian lassie you wouldn't be able to tell where one giant arse ended and the other began.

What about the match up between Lion Tommy Seymour and Kinghorn (his first game on the wing?)...

I wonder if Kinghorn is being tried there looking towards the summer tour - Rory Scholes is on the bench FFS

Or perhaps Hodge didn't anticipate Townsend picking his Lions...

I think you will find that Nick Grigg is SQ - both grandparent rule and playing for national 7's team. OK, source is Wiki, but I don't think they are wrong.

I think you are correct, Demosthenes, which further reinforces my point that the Toonmeister is, possibly, using the match to signal his intent as Scotland coach.

That will be why Edinburgh are 30 odd points behind us in the Pro12 I suppose. Well done

aww for crying out loud!!!!
It's bad enough that we've had our worst ever season and now to make matters worse, the schiz is back to rub our noses in it!
He's more one eyed about Glasgow than some of the Welsh are about Wales!
Isn't the second coming of Schiz one of the signs of the apocalypse?
Isn't another sign Jimbo actually managing to use the quote function for once?
Oh well, Welcome back Schiz, I'm off to grab a bible..............

Schitz, great to see you bud. I'm away to do some leafleting tomorrow in some, erm... up and coming parts of the Toon.

Huge effort from Edinburgh and I suspect they won't be able to keep it up - they'll certainly be very frustrated with some of the ref interpretation.
