Just seen that Quade Cooper will be surplus to requirements at the Reds this year.

He's only 29. Worth taking a risk on or too much trouble?

Prob will go to sale....

Tigers being linked to Santiago Socino and Guy Thompson in today's rugby paper.
But wouldn't hold my breath about it.

You're stealing another hooker from us!!!

I'd be surprised if Socino left as he's just forced his way into the first team squad. With Lawson retiring at the end of the season, he'll be used more.

I can't see us signing either of those players to be honest. Sounds more like agent tall to help the contract process.

Be interesting to see where Carr ends up after his Wasps stint. He's got a contract for the next Super Rugby season and is then available. On current form half of Europe will be taking an interest.

On the bath front...

Foutaili has re-signed
Banahan has been offered a contract but it’s shorter than he wanted and the same wage. He wants to stay but the club are saying they are at the cap and can’t increase. Glos and Bris have both offered longer and bigger contracts but he hasn’t signed with anyone yet
Auterac is apparently off to Quins. We are looking at Paz from Argentina to replace
Tapaui is apaprently off to Quins too
Some rumors that Atwood might have to start thinking about early injury retirement
Stooke being looked at by Bristol

Its one that has done the rounds in Welsh circles a bit, however the Welsh (media and rumour mills) have a tendency to pounce on any welshman out of contract and claim they may head home. It happened with Owen Williams said to bereturning to the Scarlets when his contract was up for renewal the last two times, and similar with George North.

Tapaui is our inside center we signed from the Reds start of last year. He got a few caps a few years back and is 28. He had a great start to his bath career, acting not only as a replacement to Eastmind, but a big upgrade. He’s a classic ball playing 12, good feet, passing brain and tidy left foot. Injury record is pretty solid, he’s had a few niggles this year and been kept out of the side by Max Clark’s great form.

I am biased but i think he’s a great option and would start for most prem teams outside the top 3 teams. I’d be sad to see him go, but on the other hand it means more gametime for a young English homegrown player.

Cooper to Wasps.....why would they do that? They already have a flair 10 in Cips - Unless Gopperth is stepping away.
CJ Stander to Sarries would make a pretty awesome back row and a allow them to play the same style of play while Billy is unavailable - again I would question how they could afford Stander! Presumably a marque player. (but there must be quite a few of them at sarries).
Hask heading to the West Country Globo Gym. Makes sense I guess, there are a lot of young back rowers coming through there that look to be very good. Presumably frees up some wedge for Cooper if true.

Trinder to Quins - if true I would be very happy with (if he can stay fit). I guess he would be competing with Marchant for the 13 shirt. There is also Saili and Harry Sloan who I hope will stay and Alofa is a utility back.
Rumours of Roberts being unhappy may be tied to Ben Tapui rumours too.
All said and done - if players are fit there might actually be some options for Quins in the midfield.

In the short term all we need are some 10's to be fit.

I think alot depends on the clubs.
Like RugbyInsideLine has a big in at Saints so gets alot of the saints rumours right but little elsewhere.

Cips has been linked to france, due to never going to play for England so could see it happening TBH isn't tubby Goode involved in the commercial side of Wasps?
The rest will be mostly agent talk and nicked from The Rugby Paper.

Not saying they are all false but anything Hamilton writes needs to be taken with a big pinch of salt

The Stander and Mahoney ones stem from the fact neither is being offered a Central Contract by Ireland.
Henderson has been making noises that if he doesn't get one he will be off as well.
Ireland need to be careful, they are trying to keep CCs down to a minimum but they cant afford the flood gates to open this side of the WC

It's silly season isn't it.

Trouble is players are looking at what Heaslip did and think i'll have some of that please. Also more Agents are getting into Rugby now, it used to be like 4 or 5 agents that had the majority of players but alot more Football, Golfers and Tennis agents are getting into the rugby side of things.

As wages are rising, it gives a lot more incentives to the agents to get involved. Their 10 or 15% cut will be rising rapidly as well.

Cooper to Ulster makes a lot of sense. They certainly have the infrastructure and the players around him to make him a success.

The sheer amount of excellent loose forwards at Leinster and the lack at Ulster has not made any sense for a while as well. If they get 1 or 2, that pack starts to look interesting.

Ulster pack is going nowhere till be have more than just Henderson who can break the gain line and we have props worthy of the name
Marty Moore will be a step up on what we have.
We also need a defensive coach, who is also the current DoR to leave asap.
Worst defence since, well forever really.
90 points+ against 3 poor teams - Kings, Treviso, Dragons

On a positive note Willie Anderson in charge of the Academy forwards (4 to 8) and it is, slowly, starting to show some improvement - backs have dried up though !

Currently we are a shambles with only 1 go to forward and a shambolic defensive set up

For me Stander should be an Ireland priority. POM not so much as I think he's gone backwards quite a bit. He was pretty awesome in his first couple seasons though, and is still quite handy for Munster. Henderson should too as I now see him as one of Ireland's top players.

Is CL not being given an extension, or is that not allowed? If he moves on then Dragons will likely snatch him.

Post by LondonTiger Wed 06 Dec 2017, 2:10 pm

Argentinian international prop Lucas Noguera has joined Bath Rugby, the Club is delighted to confirm.

A destructive force at the scrum and effective carrier around the field, the 24 year-old loosehead will arrive at the Club this week.

“I can’t wait to start this next stage of my career with Bath,” said Noguera. “Bath are a very ambitious Club, which will be exciting to be part of, and I know I will improve as a player here.”

An athletic, intelligent player, Noguera made his international debut in 2014, and has become an integral member of the Los Pumas squad, earning over 40 caps to date. He was most recently in international action in Argentina’s Autumn Internationals earlier this month.

“Lucas is a great addition to the squad,” commented Director of Rugby, Todd Blackadder. “He’s a very talented young prop, who has already gained a huge amount of experience on the international stage.

His all-round skillset is impressive, and he is still relatively young so can get even better. He really fits into the squad we are putting together here, and I’m sure he’ll continue developing into a fantastic player over the coming seasons.”

Any move to Ulster would only be for Feb-May to see us through to the end of the season.
In the way CL has played the first half of the year.
Same for Donald and Giteau IF they have been approached.
It would not be permanent

Is CL not being given an extension, or is that not allowed? If he moves on then Dragons will likely snatch him.
