France vs Japan
France 23 - 23 Japan
Don't know who watched this game. Japan missed a conversion to go ahead and generally seemed quite dangerous with ball in hand. Who does this game reflect more on? Japans improvement or France's decline?

Do you think? Wales seem to be going backwards at a rate at the moment. Ireland are not consistent but are the only team to have beaten both Eng and NZ in ages, and Scotland have got their attacking mojo going big time. I know Wales have been consistent in the 6N but on form I'd have England as narrow favourites over Ireland with Scotland a genuine threatCyril wrote:France are cack these days.

Well at least the thread was labelled 'France vs Japan' - you might expect to see a discussion of the results inside...

To be honest, I see Wales and Scotland as similar threats. Ireland, no. They're a busted flush with Schmidt. Wales are always a danger and Scotland seem to be getting their act together. With this England side I would still be disappointed if we didn't put 15-20 over either home or away.lostinwales wrote:Do you think? Wales seem to be going backwards at a rate at the moment. Don't beat yourself up hazel, I'm a grown man and can deal with it.
Plus if I didn't know the result before watching it I wouldn't have come online, especially to a rugby site

I know. Sorry for this year. We'll try not to bust the flush next year

Re: France vs Japan
France are really sh!t though .... Japan should have won this and the last few minutes of France playing were utterly pathetic. Couldn’t even keep the ball against Japan FFS. No speed, no physicality, no ideas. Worst team have seen playing since PSA years. Thought last week was really bad but they keep digging. France should be replaced by Georgia with immediate effect in the the 6N as it will be very embarrassing otherwise...

Re: France vs Japan
Might be different if Noves gets the shepard's crook. There is so much talent in France its frightening. Just look at 9, France have: Serin, Du Ponte, Machenaud and Lesgourgues.
Morgan Parra cant get anywhere where near the squad. No doubt that losing Lopez to a broken leg has been a big blow but with Trinh Duc they should still be more than competitive.
Noves last years in charge of Toulouse saw a noticeable decline in terms of tactics and spirit in the squad and he has perfectly transferred that malaise to Les Bleus. He needs to go and go now.

A.................. dare I say it.................. SH coach? I think I put that out there before Noves got the job - and then Noves got the job.
France are big and like England there is pride in the idea of doing things for themselves without the help of the little people. But even England became pragmatic eventually and admitted, the best ideal was probably trying to get one of the best coaches in the world currently rather than putting a 'English' tag on the requirements for such a role.

Re: France vs Japan
There is something rotten in here for sure... can’t remember seeing French players with such poor skills and low confidence on display... aside from DuPont and Vahaamahina there were all lethargic. The Top14 is not even an excuse anymore as most of these guys had a specific 5 weeks preparationthis summer and didn’t play much at the start of the season. Need a new staff ASAP and preferably a foreign one with experience.

Nick Mallet perhaps ?
I think we might just end up with Clive Woodward supervising this mess as he was the only one interested before anyway.

Oh I think the French Union could get fresher faces. They ain't short on cash and as people have been saying, there is all the raw resources they need, if given the real power to do so, to collect and organise a strong France into the future.
