Fortnite/PUBG Empty Fortnite/PUBG

Post by Scott is Back Wed 24 Jan 2018, 9:30 am

Is anyone playing either of these games? Which do you play? Thoughts?

I have been plating Fortnite for the last 2-3 weeks, managed a 2nd place, and quite a few top 10's but not got that crucial win just yet!!

How you getting on?

I've played a fair bit of Fortnite but my eldest son is obsessed with it. I've had a couple of solo wins, he's won about 10 but in squad games with his mates.

Yeah i do think Squad games are a bit easier for wins, and its a great laugh with other people!

The fact that in them you can get rezzed whilst in solos it's all or nothing makes them easier. Get a team of 4 all on mics coordinated and they'll batter a collection of individuals. My lad's 12 and they'll win games taking around 25 kills. Most number of kills I've had in a solo is 7.

Yeah - a good working squad makes life a lot easier, they are hard to come by though, there is always a Leeroy Jenkins in our squad!!

Solo - i think i had 4/5 kills most in one round, with a well placed Boogie-Bomb!

Have you tried building a stairway to the top whilst the storm is coming in so it's not visible to others? That's a good tactic to get to a win as usually no-one spots it and you end up only having to take down 1 person right at the end.

I saw a video of it last night, and then spent 10 minutes chopping down trees and getting bricks, only to be shot at 22 for not paying attention...gonna give it another whirl though

How does it work in reality? Building seems to massively expose you to being attacked.

Either building is good enough that everyone builds and camps and you never see anyone, or it's not worth the risk and pointless?

Sceptical about the balance/

I tend to only build to get somewhere ie. a ramp up mountains, up to buildings etc, i dont tend to build a base and camp in it as like you say, your pretty exposed. It only really works when there are 2-3 people left and you all know where each other is anyway.

As you get better you tend to use buildings more, in defence immediately as you get shot you quickly build one around you to give you cover and allow you to bandage up etc, in attack you'll build stairs to get height leverage.

Downloaded this last night, had time for 1 game.

Must've landed in the wrong place as there were no people or weapons, by the time I got in the storm I was 29th and then got sniped in the back.

Some places get a lot more people dropping into them and a lot more weapons/chests, I tend to have 3 or 4 places I prefer to drop to and depending on the direction in which the bus goes over the map head to the one that I think less people will be starting at. The two farms are ones I especially like as starting points.

I find hanging on towards the end of the bus journey helps too...everyone bails out in the first 10 seconds.

If you drop out towards the end, then glide a bit, you can tend to see where most people are going, and where is free. Since the map update i find most people go to the new places...

I had a nice kick about with some random person last night in the football pitch, then i shot him in the back!! ha!

You can get further as well if you launch and retract the glider towards the direction you want to go, helpful if you want to start away from everyone in a place like Flush Factory etc.

Got my first 2 wins on this yesterday - one in Solo, and one in Squads! Still enjoying this a lot!

My two sons are crazy about Fornite, personally I don't see the attraction of either game
