Chippers
I've just seen that the banner advert at the top of this page is an advert for a chipper.
No idea how the website algorithm works but it has obviously deduced I'm a hacker and a potential purchaser. Does anyone on here have a chipper? What club are you sacrificing to accommodate it in the bag? What's the point of them?

Re: Chippers
You or someone on the same IP address has been googling chippers.
I would get the safe search filters enabled.

Re: Chippers
I do.
I'll explain as part of my golf as a whole.
I think I am the golfer on this board who is the antithesis of what Super and Mac expect a golfer to be.
1. I can't hit the ball straight. Usually I have a fade. My swing lasts about a second.
2. I use a 7 wood
3. I use tower tees
4. I use a chipper. (No 3 or 4 iron) - I use it as I find it easier to swing the club smoothly than a wedge or 7 iron. It's relatively heavy. It gets it up and rolling. I usually thin my chips otherwise.
5. I can't hit the ball very far.
So I am basically useless at golf. But I enjoy the game, sometimes I beat my mates, sometimes they win. My Senior group is really friendly, we have a good laugh, and a different type of game every Monday.

Re: Chippers
Thanks INW.
I understand that using a putter stroke with a chipper will lead to more consistent strike than any other club (apart from the putter).
When do you use it? When do you switch from putter to chipper?
At what point does the distance become too far out?

Only around the green. I use my putter on the first cut around the green as well as the putting surface, as that's OK to putt on. The approaches to our greens can be very closely mown as well, so I will use my putter there. It's in that second cut around the green when the ball is sitting down a bit. Anything from a few inches in the rough to about six feet. After that I will try with my wedge(s). As I said, I am not confident close to the green.

Re: Chippers
Mac keeps getting ads for homebase and www.gardensurrounds.com.
Well, they thought he was constantly hunting for offence.
