Australia India Tipping Competition
I know it's rather late but if you can get your picks in during the next few hours... early morning UK time... then it will be good to go.
A more watered down version; just 2 batsmen, 2 bowlers from each side and the match winner or select draw.
Won't do the wicket keeper catches this time but they can get points through c/b or stumpings on top of their runs scored. See below.
- score 1 point = 1 run. Bonus 25 points for 100 runs. 50 point bonus for a double. 100 extra points for 300 runs.
- score 25 points = 1 wicket. 5-for an extra 50 points on top of 125 points = 175. 10-for; an extra 100 = 350. 35 points for a caught & bowled.
- score 20 points for a catch (any of your 4 batsmen/bowlers) 35 points for a caught & bowled. 25 points for a run out (fielder). 30 for a direct hit.
- for above: except if you have chosen a w/k in your four; then 10 points for each caught behind, 20 points for a stumping.
Pick the correct result - win or draw each Test = 50 points
Here are the lineups:
Australia:
Harris, Khawaja, Labuschagne, S Marsh, Head, Handscomb,
Paine (capt & wk), Cummins, Starc, Lyon, Hazlewood
India:
Agarwal, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli (capt), Rahane, Vihari,
Pant (wk), Jadeja, Kuldeep, Shami, Bumrah

Re: Australia India Tipping Competition
Hi Joey,
I've got a feeling I actually won this same sort of competition a few years back - if I'm right about that, shows it's all luck!
Anyway, I'll go:
Finchy (got to really - he's been top notch at Surrey and a deservedly popular real guy), Khawaja, Starc, Cummins
Pujara, Kohli, Ashwin, Sharma
1st Test: Australia.

Thanks KP fan... I'll plug you in. Who's your 1st Test Winner?
Anyone else?
sub.kumar 5, msp, goose, VTR, nathaniel,... I think Caledonian Craig is lurking on the Brexit thread - just post up your picks if you want.
Pretty laid back here. Serious but also fun.

No way. He can keep those 37 runs... think Ish might bag some sticks too tomorrow. You are definitely on the right track as usual, Guildford.
If an analogy is rain falling outside the Bat Manor when the runs and points are ticking over; then it was raining all day for you. It seemed.
The good thing about this competition. As Australia go into bat at some stage tomorrow - new numbers will start to appear. Then we'll see even more movement on the Leader Board.

Dolphin - Rohit is 33 points ahead of Ishant for now. So do you want "328" or "295" after day 1?
If so you would jump to 3rd place.

Leader Board 1st Test, Day 2:
[figure in brackets = points above or below the average score]
final figure = Day 2 points
556 Duty [+148] 220
521 Guildfordbat [+113] 171
463 KP_Fan [+55] 163
446 Dolphin [+38] 151

312 Alfie [-96] 128
248 S Kumar [-160] 108
average score: 408
A new World Order of 10 with Duty rising to the fore and leading the way... onwards and upwards!
Significant gains for Olly and JD... charging up through the order most of the day.
The rest of us doing average, gaining some ground... or losing it. As is my case.

Re: Australia India Tipping Competition
Yes, SK... you can bounce back. Cameos from Starc and Lyon with Shami and Bumrah eventually mopping up. It could happen.
I had a complete shocker yesterday... barely a pulse... a scoring rate slower than Australia. I didn't even get 100 points. Miserable effort!
Can't blame Marsh though. Or should I? If I drop him after this test (the selectors won't) then no doubt he will find form in Perth.

So you win either way.
My dilemma is worse.
If he scores runs then you also score runs, KP_f. So too Alfie, Kumar and myself. Olly and JD will benefit if Head can dig in and prolong the inevitable.
If Australia is bundled out quickly... I hope it's Shami & Ishant doing the damage... but I've got a feeling Ashwin (Duty, Guildford, Olly and you as well KPF) might pick up a big bag of wickets much like Lyon did yesterday.

India win = 50 bonus points for Dolphin, James, Duty, Alfie, KPF and Kumar.
Congratulations, KPF and Kumar on this historic 1st Test win! Sets it up nicely for the rest of the series.
I'm thinking we could allow one batsman and one bowler change from each team (so a total of up to 4 players) for the 2nd Test in Perth.
Take your time... get any changes in before the next one commences ; plus your Winner tip too of course.

So close between you and Dolphin... only 6 points in it.
Thanks for your changes. You know you have more replacements for Oz if you need.

Stupid competition - I'm sure there was much more skill involved in the previous one!

I fear you're setting us up again, Guildford. Still 3 matches to go... no doubt you will come careering down the home straight again.

I can't get off the bottom of this thing even with my Indian bowlers doing well and Pant taking a bunch of catches ...going to have to consider Changes...

Thing is Alfie, the table got compressed up from the bottom today... led by you. The horses are now more clustered together in a smaller space.
Even though 250 or whatever it is points seems a lot - you can easily get off to a flyer next test and suddenly do an Olly or a Kumar... rake up hundreds of points in the space of a day or two.

Can I please swap Ishant, Vijay and Finch for Ashwin, Rahane and Head. Australia to win the second Test.
