First topic message reminder :

PGATour Running Commentary- Aug 2020

1. Last week:  Justin Thomas overcame a 4 shot deficit to win the WGC-FEDEX St Jude by three shots over a four players of Tom Lewis, Daniel Berger, Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka   Richie Werenski won the Barracuda event, by one point over Troy Merritt.

2. After he won the Memorial, Jon Rahm took the #1 OWGR ranking from Rory, and now after winning the FEDEX, Justin Thomas took the #1 spot.

3. This week is the PGA Championship, with most of the OWGR Top 100 players in the field.  The tournament venue is at Harding Park, which has hosted two WGC tournaments in the last 20 years.  Here are some finishes by players in this years field:  Woods (1), Garcia (3), Stenson (3), GMac (6), Furyk (15)Poulter (18), Mickelson (29), Scott (29), ZJohnson (43),  The Match play was played at Harding Park in 2015, won by Rory, beating Woodland in finals.  Players advancing to the Round of 16, include Willett, Furyk, Casey, Oosty, Fleetwood, Fowler, Hideki, and Leishman.

4. Only two more tournaments to qualify for the FEDEX playoffs, some notable players that are currently inside the Top 125, but probably have not clinched a spot in the Northern Trust (Tom Lewis (#117), Russell Knox (#120,  Paul Casey (#121), Charl Schwartzel (#123).  Some players just barely outside the Top 125 include Nick Watney, Zach Johnson, Matt Wallace, Shane Lowry, RCB, Sergio, and Justin Rose. Some players that need a big week to get inside the Top 125 include Willett, Dufner, Power, Walker, Stenson

She's not that amazing. A superficial vacuous American look. Wouldn't say no to a bit of rogerisation with her, but i'm not a fan of that "Princess" type of look that sports stars and actors seem to go for.

Not sure what she sees in DJ tho? AFAIK she (or daddy) is more loaded than him, so it can't be all about the money.
But they probably share interests in the funky stuff.

That sort of long blonde hair, heavily made up type that you might see in Instagram models.
Like I said, the superficially attractive type.

Why superficially? Do you equate being interested in make up or beauty products as vacuous or something?

No, it's just the media approved standard of attractiveness.
Why are you trying to look into this so deeply?
I was simply saying I don't care for the "dolly bird" type of woman that every (mostly American) male sports star seems to have hanging off their arm.

Like I said, she's superficially attractive in a valley girl, prom queen way, but very much the predictable Stepford wives type of sportsman's wife.
Wouldn't kick her out of bed, but looks high maintenance.

Of course she's high maintenance, she's the daughter of arguably the greatest sportsmen in his field ( I hear) and is from a very privileged background in a relationship with a very rich and current best player in his sport.

Shes attractive in an attractive way. Not really sure about breaking it down into sub divisions. In my view, you are attractive or you are not.

Well that's true, but is she your type? Not for me, clearly out of my league but not my type at all. There's something about that type of "attractiveness" which is unattractive because so many strive for that same look.

Good grief. I said "to me at least" for one thing. I'm not making that judgement (admittedly one that might be incorrect) based on her congratulating Johnson on Sunday.

I'm actually surprised at you Mac (actually, I'm not as you have form) in taking an active part in such a sexist, objectifying bit of conversation. Shame on you.

My mistake, I should have "don't find Paulina desirable"

Because clearly you find superficial attributes desirable. Afterall, she is thin, no multiple chins, and shapely legs.

And I might add "very callipygian"

Just being in good shape doesn't mean everyone will find you attractive. I clearly said I don't find the American bimbo a good look.

Everyone finds certain superficial things attractive don't pretend you don't.

Ditto ! I think she was quite pretty as a teenager, had ambitions to be an actress/model and decided that she didn't have the right looks to be successful. So she had work done. Quite a lot of work.

Ditto !  I think she was quite pretty as a teenager, had ambitions to be an actress/model and decided that  she didn't have the right looks to be successful.  So she had work done.  Quite a lot of work.

Hey Plunky, how are you and Mr Plunky doing? Do you have any further UK trips planned or are you waiting for all this Covid nonsense to settle?

Hi JAS, we had planned to go to devon & cornwall in September, but we canceled everything. Even if we had felt ok about the travel , we would have had to quarantine for 2 weeks on arrival in England. Mum was isolating in September anyway following surgery so we couldn't have spent time with her. We're hoping to go over some time next year but no idea when. At this point since the numbers aren't good, we're supposed to wear masks in all public places in Massachusetts regardless of how far we are away from other people. But on the plus side, the golf courses are still open and are relatively quiet now that its getting colder ! thumbsup

I see Tiger and the cub will be playing the father & son event. Should be interesting to see how good the kid is.

Lots of shopping & buying happens on what is known as Black Friday here in the USA. The day after USA's Thanksgiving.

Who knew that PGATour would be buying a significant portion of the European tour today, Jay Monahan takes a seat on the European Board

Biggest Day after Thanksgiving Golf News in 11 years (certain golfer hits a fire hydrant)

The low scores are residue

1. outstanding conditioning of courses
2. excellent playing conditions (weather)
3. better players. Yes any objective analysis of tournament results. (DataGolf reports, Golfweek rankings, Mark Broadie published papers.

Last week, a 6x European Tour winner got his first Top 10 ever in a full field PGATour non-co-sanctioned event. (Weisberger)

And FWIW. I am NOT talking about American players vs European Players. I am talking about the PGATour vs EuroTour. The PGATour has many non-American players just as much as the European Tour has many non-European players

And FWIW.

The point I was trying to make before you started waving your flag so defensively was that so many tournaments in America especially are just incredibly boring, paint by numbers and very similar to the one the week before.
You really can't take any criticism of your country, tour, players, Hall of Fame etc can you?

For what it's worth there are boring tournament in Europe too, but I believe a greater diversity of course, weather, country etc which is what makes it, in terms of venues at least if not quality of golf  potentially a more interesting tour to watch ( if it had PGA standard players within it.)

Super, your jingoistic and xenophobic opinions are well documented here on this board and your pathetic attempts to cast those aspersions towards me are laughable and ultra transparent.

Furthermore, your opinions would be more credible if you could resist the urge to make puerile comments on superficial features.
