Gallagher Premiership 2020/21
First topic message reminder :
That's not a high tackle. Heyes initial contact is the chest. If you're going to review it, review it properly. It's a legal tackle.
How did the assistant miss that the LI player knocks the ball out of JVP's hands and into touch before the Joseph break. It was right in front of him FFS. Lineout Tigers.
Anyway, Tigers blow what should have been a straightforward win and only get 4 instead of 5 points. LI manage to snatch 2 league points with a TBP at the death. Probably a fair result as LI were the better side in the first half but didn't really show up in the second. Hassell-Collins is looking like a really classy player, shame Parton went off.

No.4: Hamish Smales
TMO: Nigel Carrick
What is it about the Saints players Pecs, both Lawes and Isiekwe out with pectoral injuries
Very strong bench there, all players that like it a bit open, good for the last 20, could have done with Naiyaravoro though. His mere presence opens up space for the others.
I can't quite see Borthwick as Kim Jong-un, but he is relatively new, so he has time to garner some of the local influences become a despot.
Maybe it's the bench (press) that's the problem.

Maybe Saints players think they are like those Kardashians and need to have some, ahem, support there.

Borthwick can’t do the Kim Jong-Un haircut. Will probably be fired or sent to a re-education facility for that.

The Tigers head of media is a cheeky Aussie and has long since been refering to Borthwick as the "Dark Lord" and other similar titles.

No one commented about Exe-Bristol? I was working and did not see it. But wanted to kow people's opinions. Probably a preview of the Finals, unless my Saints upset the apple cart.......

I'd suggest watching the first half. Might be the best 40 mins of rugby I've seen in a while. Both teams were throwing the ball around, there was loads of turnovers and proper turnovers with the ball taken and then attacked instead of penalties. Exeter didn't concede a penalty until the second half. The second half was good but Exeter had a lead to defend and were just able to exert too much control.
Andy Item's try for Bristol showed off some ridiculous acceleration and came from a first phase move off a scrum around their own 22. Sam Simmons rampaged all over the place and made a silly amount of metres despite being heavily taped up.

Dallaglio again showing why hes one of the worst commentators around. Calling a forward pass where a ball has travelled forward rather than explain and clearly understand the interpretations around that law.

Ref was wrong to not listen to the TMO though as it was a clear forward pass - that wasn't just momentum ...

Really not sure what the officials are doing Care interfering with the 8 before he's picked up the ball from the scrum and offside as he's in front of the line of the ball and they ping Irish ... result try for Quins ...

Goode and Dallaglio again not knowing the laws around knock ons. Embarrassing considering the high standards BT has generally brought with their coverage.

You have to say after a quiet first half Smith really has grown into the game after the red.

LI should have had their game sewn up long before. Just got pulled into an open game against the 14 man Quins. Smith with some lovely footwork for the win but LI should have never let them have the opportunity, far too loose and needless penalties.

Possibly, but I'm not sure the ball actually went forwards from Loader's hands in the first place ...

Early signs that Cobus van Wyk will be no less of a liability for Tigers since his ban. Saints have started brightly.

Yeah our attack is a work in progress and it's not quite clinical enough.
I did like the TMOs handling of a shoulder to head contact. The Saints player did everything he could to make a legal tackle and Kelly fell into him. Nice to see that was checked and just play on.

Tigers 3 -12 Saints at HT
Saints with two late changes, Freeman for Sleightholme and Adendorff for Harrison
Tries from Ribbans and Hutchinson, penalty from Ford.

Re: Gallagher Premiership 2020/21
Dickson somehow misses Saints collapse a rolling maul destined for the try line hitting the ground a metre short but Tigers manage to muscle it over after several phases. Initially really good defence from Saints but a clever line close makes the difference.

Must have been one hell of a warm up.
At least it gives us an excuse, but if the Tiggers lose to a side shorn of their captain, highest try scorer and biggest prop all just before the start.................... well, what can I say.

To be fair Hill is a better player than Painter, Adendorff has been one of it not your best player so far. Freeman has been lively but his only break saw him get tackled into touch when one on one Vs Steward.

I'll give you Hill. but Harrison has been on fire since he came back from injury, easily step up from Adendorff. Sleightholme has scored 9 tries in the last 6 games, Freeman a worthy replacement, but more of a 15 than a 14

Needless penalty as well.
TMO hands Saints an absolute gift with a yellow card to Wells for "targeting the standing leg on a charge down" completely overlooking the fact he makes contact with the kicking leg. It was a late one and no more. Really poor officiating reacting more to the Saints players shouting like footballers than the incident.
Saints score a really nice try almost straight after.
