Yes, it’s back, my favourite open comp at Carnoustie is back after a 2 year hiatus, not only that, it’s been moved to early May to accommodate a bigger field (more daylight), so the mad scrum for places is going to be Nov 1st when it goes online. Be interesting to see what an extra 48 competitors does to the matchplay qualifying cut offs.

What's the entry fee?

Indeed, nearly double what my first one was. What does that include?
Minimum 6 rounds, at least 3 of which will be on the championship course, a £40 voucher for the Rookery restaurant upstairs in the clubhouse (better than Wagamama’s!!) then there’s prizes, best gross, best net, consolation events best 3 each day and knockouts start paying from 1/4 final onwards.

Entry opens tonight at 5:00pm for anyone that might be interested.

A whole week at an Open Championship venue, chance to play the championship course at least 3 times, practice round, medal rounds and either matchplay knockouts or consolation stablefords, against over 340 golfers from pretty much all over the world and a £40 voucher for the restaurant in the clubhouse for £350.
I first tried it as a 1 off in 2010 just for the sake of playing the Championship course. Had no intention of a repeat visit...until I got there. I just loved everything about it and returned every year until Covid put the scuppers on it in 2020.

Biting your nails JAS? Saw this on the website.....We are experiencing technical difficulties with our tournament provider GolfBox. No entries have been taken at this stage and they are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

It’s been reset for next Monday…not the first time Golfbox have been a letdown. I understand why they would use a 3rd party provider to facilitate the entry process but when it all goes wrong like it did tonight then they’re left with egg on their faces. The entry is always fraught with excruciatingly slow IT but it eventually gets there, tonight though, Golfboxs Servers went down half an hour before the entry time…poor show really.

I actually forgot about it, so works for me.

Nah, if im going to spunk that aort of money Jas it will be on Open Qualifying.
