Following a review of the site and how we are functioning, we still believe that one of the key successes to its popularity is the work friendly environment created.

We appreciate that many of you will be using this forum whilst at work and wish to use a forum with very little images that may draw attention. However, we also appreciate it that the site is also used by people who want a more visual experience.

Our policy up until now has been one strictly no images. We have asked all moderators to ensure that any images posted on the site be removed and replaced with a link instead.

However, we have now decided to trial a new policy that should benefit all parties - those at work and also those who wish to view images without opening another link.

So here are the new rules regarding images:

Images can be posted but must be done so within the "spoiler" tag.

For those who dont know what this is, it appears in the "others" icon above your reply box. When you click on it, it will place the words "spoiler" twice in your reply box. Anything you post in between these two bracketed words will be hidden unless clicked when posted.

It would look like this:

Spoiler:

Within these spoiler tags, it is possible to host an image using the image icon (7th icon above the quick reply box). When you click on this, it will bring up a box where you must input your desired images URL.

Once you have done this, please ensure the coding that appears is placed inbetween the spoiler tags previously mentioned.

It should then produce the image within the spoiler tag - in other words, you will only see the image if you click the spoiler box as so:

(picture of a balloon "saying you did it")

Spoiler:

Hopefully this will mean that people can post images but they will only be seen once the spoiler box is clicked - low visibility for users at work.

Next the rules regarding images.

IMPORTANT!

1. Do not post anything that will cause offence - this includes any pornographic material
2. Above all spoiler tags please label clearly what the image is. Do not falsely describe the image.
3. Do not post images in any off topic secti
on.

These rules are not negotiable and will be reviewed. Failure to comply with these rules will result in punishment at the administrations discretion.

Please respect these new rules and only post images where relevant.

Thank you

The Admin Team.

Now that adverts (often containing sizeable images, animations and updating photographs) have been plonked onto the site it appears that the aim to create a 'work-friendly' environment has been ditched.

i agree, couldnt the adverts be put on the bottom of the page, because they arent very work friendly.

I'm not particularly fussed if it is not possible, but was wondering whether it was permissible in Off topic to put in a link to the picture on BBC website of the proposed design of the tomb of Richard III as announced today by Leicester Cathedral. I thought it looked rather classy and wondered whether others agree.  But this would seem to be contrary to rules of not having any images in off topic section.

Thanks Hero.  I've posted it - hasn't come out in quite the usual format - you have to open the spoiler and then click again, on the link.  Hopefully that is not a problem...

Probably why I never rose above Corporal. Wink
